Firefox users

#1 Post by tanstaafl2 » Mon Aug 18, 2008 4:02 pm

Any one else have problems initially with logging on using Firefox? Have been experimenting with it lately but still having trouble with a couple of frequently visited sites including this one. Can't figure out if I need to download something to make it work.

I can get to the site without any problem but can't logon to the site. Don't get any error messages when I try to logon. It just simply doesn't seem to recognize me. No problem if I go back to IE and try to logon as it works right away.

Maybe a site admin problem of some kind?

no problems here
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I occasionally have problems accessing sites via Firefox after I install upgrades to my Zone Alarm firewall. But, those anomalies go away after I
a) reconfigure Zone Alarm and/or b) clear the Firefox cache. I can't think of any other reason why you would be denied access. Perhaps you have an incorrect password saved.

I use zone alarm so perhaps that is the issue. Usually zone alarm gives me a message when it encounters a new request but I did not get one so far.

I wonder if it's somehow related to this:

I just downloaded Firefox at home last week, and I have been experiencing the exact same behavior. It seems to be a newer version than the one I use at work, which has no problems at all.

If I come across a solution, I'll be sure and post it to this thread.

I did find a solution. I googled "firefox login problem" and found a post that said "I cleared all cookies and sessions and the problem went away." I followed that advice (Tools - Clear Private Data - uncheck Browsing History and Cache, check Cookies, leave Authenticated Sessions unchecked - Clear Private Data Now) and it's working fine.

This reminds me of...

This reminds me I have to install Firefox on my new computer, as I did on my old one. The IE gremlins are hitting already.

Thanks! I will give that a try.
