Rehearsal day.

Finished packing our stuff for the trek to the south of Boston. I'm not sure I ever mentioned picking up our tuxes. I had received an e-mail saying my tux was in a day earlier than expected. This was good, since I also had to pick up HS and GF the next day as well as his tux. My tux was great, no problems. Very comfortable, in fact. HS, however, has short legs, and the pants had to be adjusted accordingly. Shoes were also a half-size too small, also adjusted right then and there. No problems, just a minor glitch. That's why you try them on when you pick them up (more on that later).

GW is working from memory (shaky) and a checklist to get everything ready. Who gets what in which car? Who's traveling with whom? She and BFF are going alone. Well, not quite alone. The back seat occupant is the gown and petticoat. The trunk gets the tuxes and their dresses. I get the suitcases, and HS and GF. BD and FSIL get BFF's daughter, plus the cooler with the wine (evening libations), wedding favors, their things and various other small items. I commented to FSIL that the logistics were probably simpler than this when he went on maneuvers.

GW leaves earliest, to check into the hotel and leave the gown, etc., there before heading to the venue for the rehearsal. Despite all the planning, I still get a call from her before I leave, asking me to check on something or other that "might" have been left behind. I finally just told everyone that if something vital gets left at home, remember it by the end of the rehearsal dinner so that I'd have enough time for a round-trip drive.

The cats got a clean and full litter box, a flat casserole dish filled with their food and a large dog-sized bowl of water. All this besides their regular food and water dishes. Then I couldn't find the fat one just before leaving. I wanted to be sure I hadn't locked him in the basement, in a closet, or some other place that wouldn't be too good for him to spend two full days. Fool animal didn't even come when I called or shook their bag of treats. That had brought the other one dashing up. Turned out he was on the opposite side of the bed from the doorway where I couldn't see him, busy ignoring me.

The drive toward Cape Cod was uneventful. The weekend Cape traffic was a bit heavier than I expected, causing me to worry about the other members of the wedding party, especially the groom's family members who were unused to the area. We still arrived in plenty of time, as did the others.
