WWTBAM Bored

Just curious if anyone else's kids already are back in school.

Our two oldest started last Wednesday (13th). So far, they have not done very much. The Boy was incredibly bored with review work.

I think that he might be excited that he actually gets grades this year. (2nd Grade)

School begins Thursday around these parts.

Stephen starts Monday of next week. The other two start the day after Labor Day. I think one of my sister's kid started already, in Georgia.

School started here last Wednesday as well. I love seeing the kids all standing on the corners again when coming home from work.....

School for kids in our family started last Monday.

Thankfully, we don't have many innocents around here....

I figure you get extra points for using a smaller vehicle rather than an SUV. Bonus multiplier for the number of Kindergarteners...

Nah, I love kids. Although I'm willing to make exceptions for the snotty brats I had to bust trying to cut the line for the Rock N Rollercoaster. I'm so mean...

The girls don't start until September 2nd. Registration for both schools is this week. I spent hours filling out all of the paperwork and writing checks last night.

Our kids came in for their first day today. I went back to work on the 5th and the rest of the teachers came started on the 11th. 23 of our administrators (principals & district level) went to Harvard for a week this summer so we spent that first week getting trained by them on what they learned up there.

Yes, they do.

Still, I wrote a check to Maddie's school for $143, for her yearbook, ASB card and planner. It could have been more, but I didn't have to buy PE clothes for her.

I also had to pay $114 for Emma's PE clothes (two sets makes life easier), yearbook, ASB card and planner.

I also wrote a check for $40 for the Drama booster fundraiser. It's a shopping night at the local mall that is very fun. Maddie won't take the check in until Thursday, because she gets credit in her "Thespian" account for fesitival entrance fees for all of the tickets that she sells and she is working registration on Thursday morning.

I feel sorry for the families with more than two kids.

Another excellent argument for homeschooling.

Our students began classes on Aug. 11. Teachers officially reported on 8/7, but my school began inservice on the 1st, and most of the teachers were here on 8/4, 5 & 6 getting our rooms set up.

We'll finish the 1st semester before Christmas break, and our last day of classes is May 22, 2008. There are 3 snow days built into the year, so if we run over we'll be back the following week to make up the days.

Pray for an easy winter for us!

Last summer felt particulary brief, as this is the first year on the new earlier schedule. Teachers reported for the final day June 3, 2008. I needed the whole 8 weeks just to clear up the pesky twitch I developed after last year's 8th grade class!

Ours also started last Monday, the 11th. Teachers started the week before,on the 4th.

To me August school is a sacrilege, like gas breaking the invisible $2 barrier. It is like March Madness in April, the Super Bowl in February, and the World Series in November. Soon July 4th will be the traditional end of the summer season, and what Labor Day used to be.

New York City schools start on September 2, just after Labor Day. On the other hand, NYC always runs well into June. I suppose fewer autumn and winter breaks as well.

Mine start on the 27th.

But Son1111 went out for the freshman football team today. At 14 yo, he checked in at the Dr's this morning at 6 ft. 3 in and 195 lbs.

He got asked back to practice tomorrow.

He has already gone to bed. I think the 2 hr. try out may have worn him out.

That's the way it used to be here, back in the olden days when I went to school.

The kids start tomorrow, but they get out in the middle of May. The district where I live now started a week or so ago!
