That's who I thought of watching Michael Phelps swim last night.
Don't believe the hype.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:That's who I thought of watching Michael Phelps swim last night.

I don't think Phelps retirement will be as "personally rewarding" as Secretariat's was.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:That's who I thought of watching Michael Phelps swim last night.

I'm pretty sure that Phelps will not be made into glue or dog food any time soon.Rexer25 wrote:I don't think Phelps retirement will be as "personally rewarding" as Secretariat's was.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:That's who I thought of watching Michael Phelps swim last night.
If they do, Phelps should have a better record standing stud than Secretariat did. Whatever made Big Red great he kept to himself.littlebeast13 wrote:Rexer25 wrote:I don't think Phelps retirement will be as "personally rewarding" as Secretariat's was.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:That's who I thought of watching Michael Phelps swim last night.
They don't breed swimmers?

I like it!gsabc wrote:Secretariat didn't need to depend on the speed of other horses running before or after him for a win, either.
Now there's a concept! First the horse runs his/her race, then the jockeys all line up for a 1500-meter. Total time wins the purse.
That's funny. When we were watching it, I turned to my wife and said, "This is like watching Secretariat run the Belmont."themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:That's who I thought of watching Michael Phelps swim last night.
Does this mean the jockeys who break their ankles during the race will be turned into glue and dog food?gsabc wrote:Secretariat didn't need to depend on the speed of other horses running before or after him for a win, either.

Not a joking matter, it actually happened to Ferdinand.NellyLunatic1980 wrote:I'm pretty sure that Phelps will not be made into glue or dog food any time soon.Rexer25 wrote:I don't think Phelps retirement will be as "personally rewarding" as Secretariat's was.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:That's who I thought of watching Michael Phelps swim last night.

Kinda sorta. There have been big time scandals about former thoroughbred champions being sold to Japan. When they are no longer useful, they're either worked to death or slaughtered.littlebeast13 wrote:Here's Fanny! wrote:Not a joking matter, it actually happened to Ferdinand.NellyLunatic1980 wrote: I'm pretty sure that Phelps will not be made into glue or dog food any time soon.
That's what the natives did to him when he landed in the Philippines.....?

After the Ferdinand and Sunday Silence scandals, I think most breeders incorporate buy back rights into the sales now.

LOL! That's what I get for trying to be funny after you specifically said it wasn't a joking matter....
I could do without horse racing entirely. If people want to bet on racing animals, they should use cockroaches instead....
