WWTBAM Bored

Thanks for the Pizza recommendations yesterday - John's was awesome and right across the street from the Majestic Theater where "Phantom" is playing. My daughter was quite happy to have her desire for "Real New York Pizza" fulfilled.

As for "Phantom," this is the third time I've seen it (the other two times on National Tours in DC and in Philly), and I enjoyed it more this time. Not because it was Broadway, but because my attitude was different. Sure it's melodramatic and somewhat creaky in places, but it really is a good time if you turn off your inner "art" critic and don't take it, or yourself, too seriously.

And it helped a lot that my daughter LOVED it. She is 11 and was nervous that she might be scared in parts, but listening to the soundtrack and knowing the plot helped a lot.

Leaving the theater and walking to Penn Station (we drove to Princeton Junction and took NJ Transit from there), I asked her if she enjoyed it. She said, "Dad, you were wrong when you said it wasn't a 'fun' show - I had a lot of fun."

I said, "Great. But I'm sure it's not your favorite - up there with "Wicked" or "Hairspray," is it?"

She said, "You know me. My favorite Broadway show is the one I'm watching."

I really like her attitude.

I saw Phantom years ago. If anyone asks me, I tell them, "It's great, if you like to see the set do tricks."

The Little Mermaid is on Broadway! My granddaughter, her husband, and I saw it in May. I liked it more than I thought I would.

I guess there's another Disney one that's coming to New York because I've entered some contest for a trip to see it ...

In any case, I saw a "lite" version at Disney World and like you, I enjoyed it more than I thought.

Trying to earn some money so my kids don't have to go shoeless.

Unfortunately, I just missed the time Trevor was leaving. But he has more reliable ways to get in contact with me than this bored.

Glad you had fun, John's is good. Among the best in the city, definitely the best in that area.

The Little Mermaid has been out on Broadway since October or November of 2007, I believe. I was going to go see it but it's my favorite Disney movie and I realized I would probably hate it if it wasn't exactly like I wanted it to be. The same reason I can't watch a Harry Potter movie within a month of reading the book...it's just not the same and I get mad.
