A 7-year-old Chinese girl was not good-looking enough for the Olympics opening ceremony, so another little girl with a pixie smile lip-synched "Ode to the Motherland," an official said.

Her real name, I believe, is Ash-Li Simpson.

From Mil-Li Vanil-Li.

You mean some of the Chinese are not what they are represented to be? I'm astonished!

Telling 7-year-old singers they're not cute enough; well, they told that to Judy Garland the moment she hit Hollywood, though she was older than 7 by then. At least they didn't think to cast a "prettier child" while Judy sang from offstage. They did do horrific things to her face every moment she wasn't actually singing, though. Teeth inserts, whatever.

I was here, I do not know exactly why, instead of watching those ceremonies. Now I have to dig them up on the net/Network, just to "experience" it all. I guess.

You can probably find the opening ceremonies on You Tube.
