Set your alarm clock. The Perseids are here, with the maximum expected at 7 a.m. EDT Tuesday. Get up early. Go outside while it's still dark. Wish upon a falling star.
Wishes don't know the difference between falling stars and meteors.

Thanks, Annie!
I'm gonna go outside right now. I bet I see four or five before I go to bed.

I was just outside, but I can't see anything yet. We have clouds across the whole sky. They are pinkish and pretty, though. I hope they'll be gone by morning.

Or falling apples, which is about all you'll get to wish on in your backyard so long as I'm around....

They're quite lovely - even at 6AM with a bit of light pollution I've been able to see one or two.
And if I could locate The Charlie Fox Singers I'd request this song:
Catch a falling star an’ put it in your pocket,
Never let it fade away!
Catch a falling star an’ put it in your pocket,
Save it for a rainy day!
For love may come an' tap you on the shoulder,
Some star-less night!
Just in case you feel you wanna’ hold her,
You’ll have a pocketful of starlight!
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Never let it fade away! ( Never let it fade away! )
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Save it for a rainy day! ( Save it for a rainy day! )
For love may come and tap you on the shoulder,
Some star-less night!
An’ just in case you feel you wanta’ hold her,
You’ll have a pocketful of starlight!
( . . . pocketful of starlight! ) [ hum in time ]
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Never let it fade away! ( Never let it fade away! )
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Save it for a rainy day! ( Save it for a rainy . . . Save it for a rainy, rainy rainy day! )
For when your troubles startn’ multiplyin’,
An' they just might!
It’s easy to forget them without tryin’,
With just a pocketful of starlight!
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Never let it fade away! ( Never let it fade away! )
Catch a falling star an’ put it in your pocket,
Save it for a rainy day!
( Save it for rainy day! ) Save it for a rainy day!

Light pollution ain't the only pollution obscuring the sky around here....

Johnny was a schoolboy
When he heard his first Beatles song
Love Me Do, I think it was
And from there it didn't take him long
Got himself a guitar
Used to play every night
Now he's in a rock 'n roll outfit
And everything's all right
Don't you know
Johnny told his mama
Hey, mama I'm going away
I'm gonna hit the big time
Gonna be a big star someday
Mama came to the door
With a teardrop in her eye
Johnny said, don't cry, mama
Smile and wave goodbye
Don't you know, yeah, yeah
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
And all the world will love you
Just as long, as long as you are
Johnny made a record
It went straight up to number one
Suddenly everyone loved
To hear him sing his song
Watching the world go by
Surprising it goes so fast
Johnny looked around him and said
Well, I made the big time at last
Don't you know, don't you know
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
And all the world will love you
Just as long, as long as you are
A shooting star
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
And all the world will love you
Just as long, as long as you are
Johnny died one night
Died in his bed
Bottle of whiskey
Sleeping tablets by his head
Johnny's life passed him by
Like a warm summer day
If you listen to the wind
You can still hear him play
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know
Na na na na na na na na na na na na...

We've got a pretty thick cloud covering over us. The sky has looked like it was going to rain for the last three days now, but we haven't had a drop yet.

Oh, Charles Fox Singers, you couldn't know that one of the bass players I studied BITD was Boz Burrell.
Where exactly are the Perseids? I think I've tried to see them before, but have never been successful. It's already light around here at 5 am though.

Is someone searching for stars? I could really use a job you know...
