Ooooh, the suspense is gripping. Will she answer Marley?

I understand the hurdles that Kazoo faces and the particular frustrations she has with the audition process, so I feel somewhat guilty that all my repetitions of the question might be causing her pain. If she would respond with a direct, "this subject is off-limits, so stop asking," I'd respect that.

Is Kazoo in need of a spokesman? I'm more than available....

I'm skipping this one.

I am predicting now that since the audition is on a college campus. the APs are going to see a TON of young, perky students. NO way am I gonna compete with their favored demographic!

I will watch the new season to see if I like the new changes they are making-I doubt "Ask the Expert" will help a lot-unless they get some REAL experts. I am wondering why after seven seasons, they decided to do all this major tinkering with the game. Sounds like Extreme Makeover-Game Show Edition.

The one change I would suggest is to create an online test. J! does it and has found plenty of good players. The technology is there-BAM should use it.
I'm just a game show nerd.

What makes you think they want more good players?

OK, Kazoo, that does it for me. I've been silen about your auditioning whining up until now ("Chicago is too far...they never come near me...they must hate Michigan...").

But now they're coming practically to your back yard and you're still finding excuses? And lame ones at that! They aren't comparing you to just others who audition that day but to everyone they see all year...and that's how it's always gonna be from now on, so suck it up, deal with the fact that the phone game isn't coming back, they're unlikely to come any closer, they may never even attempt an online test, and get your heiney over to Dearborn. Otherwise, just shut the hell up about how far away the auditions are, and how they would never have you on, cuz the only way to know that is to shut the hell up and go give it a try.

And FTR, they haven't even been remotely near Pittsburgh for several years now, so this may be the last time they come this close for a number of years. If you pass this up, you will officially give up any and all rights to use distance as an excuse.

Just do it already.

This attitude is the opposite of what you need. It's cliché, but take those lemons and make lemonade. You can use the fact you're not like everyone else at the audition to your advantage.

The other thing to keep in mind is the experience of auditioning can be enjoyable (and motivating) in itself. Just go, have fun and don't worry so much about the result.

Yay, she answered. Boo, she's not going.

I looked at the promo. They are still looking for the Netflix Millionn Dollar Week and:

"Millionaire" is also looking for engaged couples who would like to appear as a team in the hot seat for "Wedding Week" with Brides.com. Contestants are also needed for "Famous Names Week," a new specialty series that will showcase ordinary people who share their name with a famous person, "Halloween Week," featuring Halloween enthusiasts wearing their best Halloween costumes in the "Millionaire" hot seat and "Three Generations," a new family series that will for the first time, allow a three person team -- grandparent, parent and child -- in the hot seat (all three team members must audition for this series).

And of course they are on a college campus and there will be the reluctant walk-bys. But you have a leg up on most of these wannabes, you can pass the test. You have the benefit of this bored behind you. They chose frogman and he ain't no spring chicken. I don't even think he's a spring frog. Ok, maybe he's a spring rooster......

My point is, there will be lots of people auditioning, but you are one of the few who can pass the test. If you don't make an effort to go, then you have no right to complain about their traveling auditions. They are as close as they are going to get. This is way it is with their rules. No phone game. No on-line test. You have to go to their audition. Right now, there is no other way.

I think Kazoo is simply afraid that she's going to fail the test.

Also a specious argument. Nobody else will be there, so it's just as easy to lie and say you passed, then say you got the :-( card 3 weeks later.

Besides, I don't think she'd fail the test. But there's no way to find out until she takes the test.

I'll try to make it simple:
DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!

If that is too subtle - go and try out - no question about it.

Or in German: Probieren Sie für Millionaire! (ok it's the formal version, but hey)

So, take it from me - they still cast MAWG's (if that is what you are) as well as every type you can imagine - I think all this hang-wringing about types is bunk - I think no one here really knows how they cast - my gut feeling it is that external types is the last thing on the list. My best guess is that they are looking first and foremost for someone who will not be nervous/panic on camera, someone who the audience will root for and in my mind that is someone who is excited to be there and enjoy the whole experience. That doesn't mean that you have to act nuts - just let it show that you are thrilled at the oppertunity they are giving you. Don't be timid in the interview - ask them questions, engage them, and more then anything else, have fun and don't hide the fact that even this stage is great.

There were a lot of people who I met who were on the show that if I gave you their supificial 'types' you would say that they had little or no chance - if I were to listen to the bored - and yet they were there. So, no excuses, have fun - if you fail the test and don't want to admit it - say you blew the interview - but do it!

I join in Marley's <sigh>. Only mine is <siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggghhhhhh> with my eyeballs rolled completely back in my head.

And for Frogman, Kazoo is not a MAWG. SHE probably hovers around MAWF'ism by now. She also knows everything about everything, except math.........and how to get her heinie to an audition. One year it was an ill-scheduled company picnic that conflicted with her schedule when BAM was in her area that decade. I think vacation another and so forth and so forth.

Be warned. The complaints and lamentations will be forthcoming as long as BAM airs.

I don't think this is it as she has passed the J! Test multiple times.

I think she is afraid of the AP's saying no. Why be afraid, they are only humans with opinions.

TPTB have told many of us here maybe (sent postcard and no call) and no (sent sad postcard) before and we all survived.

I think that she feels that she would "waste" a day if she tries out and don't make it.

But personally, I don't regret either of my two attempts at WWTBAM (once in Portland - failed test by one question :D ) and once in San Francisco - passed test and got happy PC but was stranded in pool) that did not result in the outcome I wanted. I had a good time enjoying the journey.

When I said MAWG - I meant of course 'Middle-Aged White Gal' ;-)

As a former J! multi-test passer and a never been called for J! contestent and as a selected contestent for BAM, then Kazoo and I share the same profile - so now she has to try out!

Man, oh man! You guys just can't see when someone is trying to provoke Kazoo!

Nonetheless, being able to pass the J! test definitely does not guarantee being able to pass the Millionaire test. I know of at least 2 people who have scored mid-40s on the J! test (out of 50 with 35 being understood to be the passing score) and have still failed the Millionaire test. Although most believe that the J! test is "tougher", there's enough of a difference in the type of questions that there's still room not to pass.

Hi all!

New here - thought this topic might be an appropriate place to start as my fiance and I auditioned this morning in Dearborn! We had a blast: both passed the test and were asked to interview again on tape. We tried our best to be charming, let's hope it worked!

I'm willing to bet even money that it worked. If you got the taped interview, you're in like Flynn. Expect your :-) cards within three weeks. Congratulations!

Don't break open the champagne yet. There have been some people who got the second interview who got sad cards.

I'm fairly certain that Some is an understatement. I'd estimate that a solid majority of those getting the 2nd interview still receive the unhappy card. However, I'd also estimate that all of those not getting the 2nd interview receive the unhappy card.

Yep - We auditioned for Wedding Week!

I definitely won't count my chickens just yet - there were probably 7 other people/teams that got a second interview as well, one of which was another engaged couple, 2+ of which were three generations teams, so they may have just let all of the "teams" through.

At any rate, regardless of what happens it was a really cool experience!
