August Weekend QoD rules

Hi everybody! As Marley told you earlier this week, he and I are co-hosting this month's QoD, and I'm taking weekend duties. The rules for mine are very similar to those for his, except that my games will be eight questions each instead of four. The rules below are largely cribbed from... er, based on Marley's.
1. Take your best guess, no outside sources allowed.
2. Each question is worth two points with a four-point bonus for getting all eight correct. Double your pleasure!
3. There will be one each for the remaining weekends of this month, for a total of four games.
4.For the first three games, I'll post the questions on Saturday to remain open through Monday until midnight Eastern time. I will post the last game of the month on Friday, August 29, and will run through Sunday, August 31, until midnight. This is so we can finalize the scoring and announce the winners on September 1 (which happens to be Labor Day).
5. Please answer in one post in the same thread as the set of questions. Use a spoiler tag around your answers.
6. All rulings of the QoDmeister are final. I'll try to be at least as considerate as Marley regarding your grumbles.
7. The weekend QoD will be quite independent of those during the week. The theme of each weekend game will be self-contained and out in the open -- no secrets here except the answers to the questions.
