Good News for the Crewse

As you may have heard, there was an oil spill on the Mississippi a couple of weeks back which messed up shipping in the river. I was supposed to be cruising out of New Orleans on the 23rd.
At first they rerouted the ship that was already at sea to Mobile (the nearest available alternative port), and said that they would resume cruises out of New Orleans the next week. They had to get buses to take passengers from Mobile back to their cars parked in New Orleans.
However, there have apparently been more spills and they kept pushing back the date they would return to New Orleans. Now, they've moved all the cruises to Mobile until the first week of September when the ship goes into an already scheduled drydock for renovations. No more bussing except for people who were flying into New Orleans.
It's good news for us. This cuts our drive down by 250 miles (roundtrip) and four hours, and I cancelled the hotel/cruise parking package in New Orleans and replaced it with one cheaper in Mobile. Plus, due to the number of people who have cancelled rather than drive to Mobile, they now have a bunch more cabins available two weeks from the cruise and they've had to slash prices. I won't get a refund but we should get a decent credit which pays for the tips and Mrs. SSS's trinkets she buys.
We've always been very fortunate in the way we've booked our trips, getting a number of lucky breaks due to upgrades, credits and so forth. I feel so lucky I might just go looking to win a ship-on-a-stick in the trivia contest this time around.
