3. Hmm... that's a fairly short distance, and if it goes from a Swedish city across a border to another country, it would have to be something nearby... Norway or Denmark, Oslo or Copenhagen... I'll go with Oslo, Norway, I think Copenhagen is farther away than 5 miles.

4. George S. Patton, who competed in the 1912 Olympics and lost to Jim Thorpe in the Decathlon.

Spoiler
1. King Gustavus Adolphus, who led Sweden to a brief status as a world power, died at the Battle of Lützen, during what war?
I should know this but I don't. Given the Swedish empire, such as it was, was mostly in the 1600's I will guess the Thirty Years War.

2. In 1912, former President Theodore Roosevelt ran for the office again on the Progressive Party ticket. This party is better known by what animal nickname?
Bull Moose Party

3. The Oresund Bridge (actually a border-crossing bridge-tunnel combination) is over 7.8 km long and connects the Swedish city of Malmö to what national capital?
Had a friend at work who recently crossed this bridge from Copenhagen, Denmark to Sweden in May.

4. What general, in command of the U.S. Third Army during World War II, was nicknamed "Old Blood and Guts"?
General George Smith Patton, Jr.
I suspect the Swedish connection here is that he participated in the 1912 games.

Hey, whatever happened to the no geography thing?? We were getting along so well, too....

Stockholm is too obvious, so I'll take Copenhagen in a pinch.

I don't know this for sure, so I thought about saying 100 Years War to give myself a veryveryvery long time in which it might have happened, but I really do think all that got settled before Mr. King Gustavus Adolphus came along, so I will make my guess as the Thirty Years War, which still was long.

2. In 1912, former President Theodore Roosevelt ran for the office again on the Progressive Party ticket. This party is better known by what animal nickname?
The Bull Moose Party
