Refresher course help on road auditions
My daughter and sister will be attending the Minneapolis audition on Monday.
They take the test and passers are called back later that day?
Tests start at 7AM? How early should they show?
About 75 in each test group?
What are the application questions for passers?
Any other info I need to know?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's the new procedure this season.kusch wrote: My daughter and sister will be attending the Minneapolis audition on Monday.

We can never give a definite answer about this, because it depends on the local turnout. Show up early and they'll spend hours standing in line. They might be able to show up later in the session, after the initial wave is over, and walk right in. Or they might be shut out if they arrive too late. YMMV.kusch wrote:Tests start at 7AM? I think it's more like 200 at a time on the road.kusch wrote:About 75 in each test group?

My top 4 items to make sure you do or make mention of in the interview:
(Note, this is based strictly on personal experience, paying attention to maybe why other contestants were chosen and some guesswork - I have no real inside information if these are the key things that they are looking for or not.)
1) Have something in your application and mention in your interview where you have appeared, performed or had to handle yourself in front of either a large crowd or an intense or high pressure situation. I think the main thing they are looking for is someone who would be comfortable in the hot chair and not freak out - if you have some experience remaining cool under pressure - I think that is item number 1 to relate to the interviewer(s).
2) List as many things as you think it would be interesting for Meredith would like to talk to you about - My guess is you should have a lot (more then 6) this will give them a lot to choose from so it makes their job easier - also anything that would make an audience want to root for you should be included and possibly highlighted.
3) Engage the interview - find a commonality, try to make it a discussion as opposed to one directional Q & A session - find something that you can ask your interviewer about - try to make yourself memorable.
4) Be the parent of 10 children.
---Jay (Speaking of on the road auditons - the number of states, territories and districts that voted in the presidential primaries == the number of days to go to my air date)

Good luck to your ladies, Kusch! Hope you'll post how they did.kusch wrote:My daughter and sister will be attending the Minneapolis audition on Monday.

My group in Sacramento (really a small town 1 hour away) started at 7am. I arrived at 5:30 and was number 138 (just checked my magnet). There were almost 400 in that first group, then way less at the second from what i heard later.
We were done with the tests by around 9:30 or 10:00am, I don't remember exactly but passers had approx. 3 hours to fill out the app, eat lunch, and return. I still wish I'd thought to ask the front desk for a xerox of my completed form! - So i'll suggest it from now on: if you find the opportunity, it would be good to make a copy to keep handy if one needs to prep for a next time.

Try to avoid being interviewed by the little blonde meanie (
Also, for "occupation," unless you do something out of the ordinary I'd suggest coming up with a startling title just to break the ice -- a dumb example is: "Executive Butt Wiper" then explain you're a stay-at-home mom - you get the idea...
Be prepared to answer questions quickly, but thoroughly and confidently, cuz they switch 'em fast. Jay's advice is really good too.
The list below is compiled mostly from questions previously posted here by helpful BB’s, also some of what I can remember from my questionnaire and interview. They won’t ask ALL of these on the same day, but are some of what i was able to gather that’s shown up over time.
Questionnaire:
What would Meredith find most interesting about you?
What is the first thing you would do with $1 million dollars?
Complete this sentence: You’d never believe it but I …..
I could be in the Guiness Book of Records for?
What is it about you that the audience would find really compelling?
Is there anything else we should know about you?
What is your most embarrassing moment?
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done to make money?
Do you have any good dating stories?
What is the worst job you’ve ever had?
If you could vote yourself as best ________ or most-likely-to ______, what would it be?
Have you ever appeared in a newspaper, magazine or TV before? If so,where and why?
If you were on a deserted island, what five things would you want with you?
Do you have a “deep, dark secret?”
What cartoon character do you resemble?
These are questions the interviewer may ask you in person:
Why do you want to be on Millionaire?
If you made it to the Hot Seat, what is the first thing you’d tell Meredith about yourself?
What is your occupation?
What is the one thing you do that makes people laugh?
How would $1 million change your life?
What would people be amazed to know about you?

They definitely seem to like if you've been on camera. It doesn't have to be something official. They loved that I was picked off the street twice to be interviewed by the local news. It was all of 20 seconds of my life, and I almost didn't remember it. So dig deep to remember stuff that might be important!!

Thanks for the replies. My daughter is very capable of passing the test but she needs work on "being perky" for the interview. I will have her prepared for the questions as she has some good possible "hooks", she just needs to get them in.
Just to make Marley happy. My sister will be a reluctant auditioner.

No special test or lines; you just have to identify yourself as being interested in those auditions (and bring a Halloween photo of yourself, if you don't arrive in costume for the audition). Yes, the kids take the test, too. (The passing cumulative score for the 3 Generations show, like the regular passing score, is an undisclosed ultra secret.)geoffil wrote:How did they handle the speciaty auditioners like Halloweeners and 3 Generations? No, I think tmitsss is going to fill their quota of MAWGs in costume for that week.geoffil wrote:Are you trying out for the Halloween show?
As I said when they announced this theme week, it'd be a hoot to sit in the Hot Seat in my Marley persona, but I don't actually own a Jacob Marley costume. And from how they promoted this, they want contestants with over-the-top stories about Halloween. I don't do anything on that holiday--I don't even get any kids knocking at my door, looking for candy--and I don't think a story about having a pseudonym on a message board that they don't want to talk about on air would impress them.

Well, not that busy. I only had two kids when I passed my one audition for the show, appearing in that 1st syndicated season.elwoodblues wrote:I only have one. I need to get busy.frogman042 wrote:

Yes, you're the exception that proves the rule and sets all of our complaints and speculations aside. The rest of us are just horribly untelegenic contestant material.Appa23 wrote:Well, not that busy. What? I can barely see you.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.
