Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Of course, if I get 'em all wrong, I disimprove my average. I'll take the chance.

This sounds like a geography Q to me, so I accrue no disgrace because of my dismal geography track record when I give an obviously incorrect answer because it's not a hill. I'll say the Left Bank just because it's the only Parisian district I can think of.

Yeah, me too. The problem with that -- so far it hasn't helped me answer any questions. It woulda helped yesterday if I'd seen it coming, but the geography Q was too hard. ;)
