.....Happy Birthday to
Meeeeeeee!
So far, I've spent the day doing traditional Birthday activities, such as
a) renewing my driver's license &
b) buying new underwear!
Since the market had yummy-looking rhubarb yesterday, & I'd sooner eat pie than cake any day, I have a lovely rhubarb-custard pie in the oven as we speak
Funny......50 doesn't seem near as
oooollllllddddd as it did when I was a youngun! (Hey you kids -- git off my lawn!!!)

And it is only a number!
Enjoy your pie!

Oh, Mary, I'm so sorry! I knew the 4th was your birthday, having looked it up over the weekend, but it hadn't yet sunk into my consciousness that TODAY was Aug. 4th.
Have a great birthday, with a giant slab of your very favorite kind of cake, and a tactfully insufficient number of candles! Many happy returns.
Replace "cake" in above paragraph with "pie."

Welcome to the "Nifty Fifty" section. I'll only be here for a couple more days until I slide over to "51", but it's good to have you on our side.
Enjoy the rest of your day!!

I took my little sweetie John-Angelo for a swim this afternoon.
Wes (head lifeguard, stickler for the letter of the law!) still wouldn't let me do backdives or flips, even if it
is my birthday! Hey, I think if you get to my age & still
can do backdives & flips -- you
should do them! (My diving coach was still doing them well into his 70's!)
No matter; I'll get out to the county pool later this week where they have a diving pool & such things are allowed

No cutaways (inwards) there, though -- however, I'm pretty sure that if I ever find a pool that allows them, I still
could do them. @#$%^& prohibitive liability insurance! No wonder kids don't learn to dive anymore -- no place allows it. Unless their parents can shell out hundreds of $$$ for lessons, like I did w/ Leah & Karen.
Wes did remind me about my Birthday-Buddy -- Barack Obama! I forgot all about him sharing my birthday. I'm old enough to be his, um, older sister though!

Its also my Dad's Birthday, He's 83 today that makes you look pretty young. This is also the Queen Mum's birthday, born in 1900, she made it to 101.

OK, sorry. My memory only works in one thread at a time.

Yes, I remember the Queen Mum -- she was my Birthday-Buddy for a long time
Also Yasser Arafat (although there seems to be some debate over his actual birthdate), Billy Bob Thornton, Richard Belzer (Detective Munch), runner Mary Decker Slaney, & Roger Clemens. And now, Obama joins our Motley Crew of Birthday-Buddies!

Happy birthday to Sis #1, too, along with all the other Aug. 4 birthday buddies.
Today's list is much better than mine. I always got such stellar names as Phyllis Diller and Lucie Arnaz. My destiny seemed warped from birth.

Happy Birthday! We aren't Birthday Buddies, but our kids are!
And, just a reminder -- you're still just a punk kid, compared to some of us.

Yikes!
Fifty!?
That's a lot of spankins.
Trust me on this. Start taking care of your joints.
I turned 50 four days after my youngest daughter was born. She'll be 5 on the 14th.
I just kept goofing around as though I was the same age I was when my older daughter was born.
Boy, I now know that I ain't 30 anymore.
Still, though, I'll keep my motto: I may be old, but I'm still immature!
Hope you had a good one!
(I'm not going to define "good one.")
