Quick notes.
BD is fine with getting married. This is the right guy. What's freaking her out (her term) is packing for the move. What goes with her, what goes into the PODS container, what stays home? She seems to be feeling better than earlier this week, which may be just from not having to go to work here again.
They do have somewhere to stay for a while. They get ten days at the base residence inn/hotel for free, then they have guest housing that they pay for initially but get reimbursed for later. Not sure how long that lasts. And who knows how long the waiting list might be for real?
I've been writing out directions for everyone. Hotel to venue and back. Airport to house. Mom's house to venue. And so forth.
Thank ghu for good credit. This is the first time we've EVER approached our limit, and we have one more burst of payments coming. I called Visa, got someone from halfway around the world (distinct Indian accent, but clear and intelligible), and five minutes later tacked on another $10K, which covers it and then some. Part of the bill is BD's responsibility, but we get the points for it.
Anyone getting rid of their Disney DVD's? BD is taking all of ours. You name the full-length cartoon, she'll have it. We need replacements for at least some. Do they sell collections? Will also need movies like Miracle on 34th St, the various Christmas cartoon specials (Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown, etc.), and a few others. I'll have to make a list.
Oh, one more thing. My town has an ongoing sewer project to hook up the entire town. We are on the final phase. After six years, they are finally getting to our phase. Guess when our street is scheduled to be torn up? Yup, this coming week. Stay tuned about dust, the PODS delivery, and any number of other possible problems.

You know, I was wondering how it was that BD had so much stuff to move, to need a PODS container. (When I moved away from home, taking my first job out of college, I packed everything into my Honda Civic!) But then you mention something like this...gsabc wrote: Anyone getting rid of their Disney DVD's? BD is taking all of ours.

She's taking her bedroom furniture. Dresser, bed, mattress/box spring, etc. That doesn't fit well into a Honda Civic. There are also boxes and boxes of books, clothes, and just general stuff. Vacuum cleaner, desk, computer (laptop and desktop), drying racks ... Pretty much all the stuff she had in her college apartment, plus the home stuff. We will have the prerequisite remainders in our house for X years, but she's taking the vast majority of it with her. How much she dumps or donates somewhere down the line is her business.MarleysGh0st wrote:You know, I was wondering how it was that BD had so much stuff to move, to need a PODS container. I do expect to be hitting eBay for the Disney DVD's, though. Visiting grandkids will expect some form of entertainment other than just Grandpa and Grandma and their pets. (No, there are no "great expectations" at the moment. I'm just anticipating.)
