R.I.P. Isabella Nymphadora Suchard

Maddie's bunny, Izzy, died this morning in her sleep. The girls are devastated. I think that her brother, Foo, doesn't know what is going on.

We are burying her in the back yard and I am supposed to be coming up with word to say as we do it.

Condolences to the two-footers in the Suchard household, and snuffly nose twitches to the fours.

May Isabella find vast fields of clover in which to frolic.

Condolences to the girls, PSM.

Maybe Izzy had more PTS from the earthquake than anyone thought, and was just hiding it well. :(

Sorry to hear this. It is hard to lose a friend, no matter how many feet they have.

Ah so sorry. My condolences to all. I would love to be able to have a bunny here, but in an apartment it is difficult.

I'll have Chomper meet her at the gate on the Rainbow Bridge.

I'm sorry to hear that. It could have been the stress from the earthquakes.

Miss Placentia, I am so very sad to hear about Izzy. Even though I never got to meet her, I considered her one of my very best girlfriends. I send wet kisses and warm snuggles to your whole family.

RIP bunny. You are undoubtably now in the Eternal Bunny Good Place.

At some point, hopefully much much later in their lives, the kids will realize that "found dead in their sleep" is probably the best way for beloved pets to end.

In the end, we didn't say much.

We each gave her a last rub on the head and put her in a Do-Si-Do Girl Scout Cookie box. (Not the individual box, but the case box, she barely fit in the box as it was, because she was so big.)

Jeff dug a hole in a shady part of the back yard. The girls and I told her that we loved her, threw some roses on the box and each took turns shoveling dirt on the box.

It's sort of what we did at Grandpa Ben's funeral last November, except for the part about the putting the body in a giant cookie box and Jeff digging the grave.

Foo has spent the afternoon watching TV with Emma. He has a partiality to Kathy Griffin.

I spent about three hours bleaching and scrubbing out the bunny cage. Right now it is drying in the sun.

I talked to her Bunny Grandma Ellen and apparently Izzy's brother Prince Char died two months ago. She doesn't know about the rest of the litter because circus people adopted them.

As someone who has a Foo Foo and a Harvey buried in the backyard I send my condolences. Foo Foo lived over 8 years - rare for a bunny and Harv decided he didn't want to live any more after 5 years no matter that we spent $500. to try to save him. Losing Foof was horrible because he was old. Harv didn't quite make as much of a connection with us. It's still hard to lose a pet but you have to remember the joy they gave you while they were there.
