Our afternoon

The girls and I spent the afternoon playing with Robo and Move Over, two rescued Greyhounds.

They live at a place which rescues Greyhounds from racing tracks, uses them for blood donors, socializes them so they will be good pets, then finds them good homes.

Though the dogs had a little pool at their disposal, they had the most fun when the girls took them for walks. I think that they walked around the building eight or nine times. I couldn't believe how good the dogs were, they didn't jump on the girls and they were very very loving.

Where is this place?? I've always told the kids that if we ever get a dog it will be a rescued greyhound - so deserving, sweet, and no shedding!
ok, and maybe a chihuahua cuz they're just so effing cute.

I knew that Greyhounds were smart from reading Annie's posts, but I was surprised by how smart they can be.

There were notes on the outside kennels talking about the dogs. For instance, there was a note to watch Geronimo because he likes to take off his own muzzle and hang it up on the muzzle rack and run around on his own.

You left out "tidy." My brother Rusty always picks up all the toys and puts them away. Once my mom left a 12-pack of those little Coke cans on the kitchen floor. Rusty put that into his bed.

Have you ever heard Jeff Dunham's stand up about his chihuahua? I heard it again in the car yesterday and almost cried laughing.

Hrmm...I wonder if I might know the woman who runs it. I know a flight attendant who lives in CA (can't remember where..) and runs a greyhound rescue operation. She was also a runner up in the ugliest dog competition a couple of years ago; she and the ugly pup were featured in one of the weekly mags.

Is there a greyhound rescue in your future? That would be fabulous!

I'll bet they'd still bark at squirrels....

Only those evil squirrels that deserve it.
