Kazoo!

#1 Post by MarleysGh0st » Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:19 pm

Taking this comment out of the thread about Michael Davies' thoughts:

I'm definitely a "hard core" fan of the show-I've watched since day 1. I'm also a trivia geek, having tried to get on J! five times.
Thank you for finally responding to our multiple inquiries about the Detroit auditions. You know that it's very frustrating trying to have a conversation with you when never respond to our questions?

But...but...

We know you're a big fan of the show. We know you've wanted your chance to get on the show. We know you've wanted them to come close to you with a road audition (preferably right in your backyard in Kalamazoo, but we know that's not going to happen). Now they're coming to Detroit. Actually, they're coming to Dearborn, which, being on the western side of the city, should be somewhat easier for you to get to.

And now you're saying you may not go to the audition because you're not sure if your neighbors would attend a lunchtime viewing party!?!?!

Please go to this audition. Do it for yourself. Do it for us.

And we'll come to Kalamazoo for the viewing party!

You really wouldn't try out for the show just because you wouldn't have an 'real time' viewing party? If nobody's home to watch it anyway, what difference does it make if it's showing on the tv or the vcr? With prime time, I could see how it would be a drag to have to wait until after the showing but, with syndication, I don't really count it as "the" showing.

I've already said that I don't watch the show (I'm not even really sure what time it's on) but if you were on it, I'd watch!

I'm not ragging on you either, I really am interested in your answer or way of thinking on this.

(No, I don't expect a response. But wouldn't it be fun if I got one?)
Copying my response in the other thread.

C'mon, Kazoo, take one for the team! We all have a lot invested in you!

And I, personally, would not be hoping for schaudenfreude. I'd really be rooting for her to do well.
Spoiler
I'm darned good and ready.

I don't really think that's a good reason not to audition! Who cares when it's on??? It's on at 1 pm here...we did 2 viewing parties!! One at work when the show was on, and one later that night.

I was more concerned that no one could come to the taping with me because they were at work...but my boyfriend came and he was all I needed. It was a great experience and I'd do it all over again, even given the fact that the show airs at 1:00! :)

Kazoo, I would come to NYC to watch you tape. I need a reason to go down and take the test this year.

If everyone else is coming to the viewing party, I'll come too. Let me know the date so I can get the best air fare.

Heck, this party is starting to sound like a good story for your audition.

She is yanking our chain.

I had a viewing party and it never aired in my market - except in re-runs.

You could tape it and show it that evening.

Go for it, kazoo!

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Lots of people are on the show and it's not even shown in their market.
What's that got to do with winning money? Get it on DVD and watch it when you want to.

File this one under excuses. If they ever come up with an ONLINE TEST and she doesn't go for it, I'll start holding my breath and taping my fingers.

If AD does a Top Ten List for excuses not to audition, this will be #1.

I'm bumping this up because I can.

There are no excuses. Put up or shut up. A viewing party is completely irrelevant to everything you've said before. The audition is at your doorstep. If you don't go you have no reason to complain about the contestants they get.
