Silver Camaro Sighting

I said Silver, not Sliver. Ha!
So I'm leaving Mecca today and pull up behind a silver Camaro in the turn lane. With Oklahoma license plates!
Now I know that it most likely was not THE silvercamaro. Partly because she isn't in this neck of the woods right now, but mostly because I didn't see Annie hanging out the window.
But I still had to give a double take.
PS Please tell Clay that I dislike team names being singular nouns and my vote is for Barons. Thanks!

I'll tell him you said so. I'm of the larger group who likes "Thunder," or something similar that has some connection to the state without being scary-negative, such as "Oklahoma Twisters" or "Oklahoma City Bombers."
From that standpoint, I don't "get" Barons. I thought it was suggested originally as an internet hoax.

I assumed it was referring to Oil Barons. I think land or cattle would fit as well, but not as much as oil. Either that or they covet the old Boom Dizzle.
Personally, I thought Sonics (sans Super) was perfect, what with the Sonic tie-in and all.

I thought I actually saw you freaking out on the rear ledge there but, upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a Beanie Baby.

To bring the subject back, here is another not "the" Silver Camaro.

Watch it, Mr. Uly!
You know that's a serious subject with Annie.

Duh, I think I understand what you meant now (I need to read for content more). It's not that you didn't get what Barons had to do with Oklahoma, but that you feel it's negative. I think it's a mostly positive word that, like most words, can just be used negatively (like robber baron), so that might be why I like it.
I do prefer Thunder over Wind because then your stadium song can be something badass like Thunderstruck by AC/DC instead of something like She's Like the Wind by Patrick Swayze.
No matter what their name ends up being, I already like them. I was so impressed by the OKC fans when the Hornets were playing games there and said back then that they deserved their own team.
If the Nuggets couldn't resign Eduardo Najera I was hoping he'd sign with Oklahoma, since that's where he went to school and I believe he lives there in the offseason when he's not doing stuff in Mexico. Plus then I'd still get to see him a lot.

Years ago when the Stanford Indians decided to go pc, they let the student body vote on a new name. Well, Stanford students being Stanford students they decided on "Robber Barons". They were honoring Leland Stanford's railroad heritage. TBTB didn't like this and threw out the vote and decided on "Cardinal".
So now they are stuck with this singular name and a dancing tree as their mascot.

Ha, I've had bosses like that.
"We're going to put it up to a vote and let everybody decide. Unless we don't like it. Then we're going to do what we want to anyway."

My dad was part of the first graduating class from Sandia High School in Albuquerque. Like the Stanford, the student body got to vote on the mascot. Those crazy kids picked, "Satans" Neat. Sandia Satans has a certain ring to it. The church across the street from Sandia threw a big hissy fit, and they became "The Sandia Matadors"
