I've got some pictures from this morning uploaded to a Photobucket album. I haven't added any titles or descriptions yet (not that I know the names of any of these two or four-footers) but I wanted to share these, especially for Annie, so she knows what she missed out on because her mom wouldn't drive her up here.
This is the group photo, at the base of Taughannock Falls:
The rest of the album can be seen here:

I've got one little movie file included with those pictures, capturing the group howl that someone started after the group photo.
I think I may have found the chorus for your opera, Annie!

So, the dogs bring their owners and they drink wine together?
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

Yes, I believe the two-footers may taste some wine along the way. The wineries that take part in this festival welcome the four-footers with other treats.
One of the pictures from the end of the hike was of the ice cream social; all four-footers got free ice cream! OK, this being Ithaca, it was frozen yogurt...

But notice the big smile on the hound right in front of the table, facing the camera!

Mr. Marley, thank you so much! I loved looking at your photos and watching your movie. I bet that was loud when all the dogs started singing at the same time! If I had been there, I would have tried to get a little harmonious counterpoint going, just to see the looks on the faces of the two-footers.
The Grapehound Wine Tour sounds like so much fun. (I thought that even before I heard about the ice cream at the end!) I am lucky to have you for one of my best friends.

Thanks, Annie! I'm glad you enjoyed the photos.
On Saturday, I skipped the wine tour portion of Grapehounds to attend another event your mom would have enjoyed, the Great American Irish Festival! They had lots of terrific bands playing. For some reason, though, they didn't seem quite as welcoming to four-footers.

Of course not! The four-footers all dance like they had two left feet!

I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

A wine-tasting tour for humans and their greyhounds, of course!

COOL! Is it an Ithaca-based group? I have a friend who has a greyhound dog-sitting business here in Rochester and sometimes I help her when she's overbooked. Nice dogs.
--dimmzy, who actually likes dog-sitting for the collie best. The collie lives in a BIG beautiful house and has her own bedroom.

I think the organizers are local, but there are greyhound rescue groups from all over who come to take part. And the local wineries have been great about cooperating on this event.
I don't even have a dog, but Taughannock Falls is my favorite spot to go to on weekends and I just happened to be there when they were having their first Grapehounds hike through the park, two years ago. Now, I wouldn't miss it!

The tour guide in me has to point out that the perspective in that group photo is deceptive.
Taughannock Falls, behind the group, looks a lot closer and smaller that it is; it's actually 215' high--the highest waterfall in the northeast!
It's more than twice the height of Niagara Falls, although the volume of water flowing over it is
slightly less.

Awesome photo!
I want to go there.
I wonder if dogs know when another dog looks like them.

That video is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.

Of course, Miss Pea. You shouldn't be surprised about anything that dogs know.
