St. Laurence Hey, one I think I know! That bitching earlier must have paid off. Ha!

2. Better known as an author and artist, who wrote the songs “A Boy Named Sue” and “The Cover of the Rolling Stone”?

Shel Silverstein Another one of my favourites, I devoted an entire LS day to him a few years ago.

3. Sororate is the custom of a man marrying whom?

Sisters Guessing, where's my trick Brian de Palma clue question? Ha!

4. The Slinky was designed and first sold as a toy in what decade?

Sixties Gotta be, I was old enough in the 70's not to be fascinated with a toy that needed a staircase and kinked the first time it went down.

Huron and Erie

2. Better known as an author and artist, who wrote the songs “A Boy Named Sue” and “The Cover of the Rolling Stone”?
I probably should know this but I don't. I associate the second one with Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show but I am pretty sure that is just the band name and there is no "Dr. Hook".

None of which helps much with coming up with an answer! How about Dr. Seuss...

3. Sororate is the custom of a man marrying whom?
Would like to think I have a decent vocabulary but apparently not as you have got me with that one. How about a sorority sister...

4. The Slinky was designed and first sold as a toy in what decade?
Most people might guess the 50's but I seem to recall it first came out in the 40's after the war so I will make that my answer.

Mr. Shel Silverstein. (He's not included in my modern poetry class. I think that's just wrong!)

Soror-anything has to be sister. (I don't think anybody is allowed to marry all the Thetas, at least not all at once.)

4. The Slinky was designed and first sold as a toy in what decade? -- I think it was the 1930s or 40s; I'll go with the 1940s

Hmm is the "S" covered in the clue with Sue and Stone? I have no idea. Honestly all I can think of is Dr. Seuss and he's not a real person (well, it's not his real name).

3. Sororate is the custom of a man marrying whom?

ANSWERS

1. Lake St. Clair is part of the waterway that connects which two Great Lakes?

Huron and Erie. Water flows from Lake Huron through the St. Clair River to Lake St. Clair and then through the Detroit River to Lake Erie. Lake Superior is connected to Lake Huron through the St. Mary River. Lake Michigan is connected to Lake Huron at the Straits of Mackinac. Lake Erie and Lake Ontario are connected by the Niagara River.

2. Better known as an author and artist, who wrote the songs “A Boy Named Sue” and “The Cover of the Rolling Stone”?

Sheldon Alan "Shel" Silverstein. I had no idea I was recreating one of the original QoD questions. They just come to me as if in a dream. I am merely the conduit of the great QoD beyond.

3. Sororate is the custom of a man marrying whom?

His wife's sister or sisters in general.
I did not accept "his sister" or "sister" with something in the answer specifying that it was not the man's own sister. Levirate is the equivalent custom of marrying brothers.

4. The Slinky was designed and first sold as a toy in what decade?

1940s
