Well a little more than a couple...

1. I made an A in both my summer grad classes. woohoo... Lot of late nights and pretty much no life for a month paid off.

2. I'm gonna go see the comedian Ralphie May Friday night. Super excited about that.

3. I've been asked to write curriculum for a new elective class on the middle school campus. This is a pretty big step for me. Of course they ask me about 4 weeks before school starts. No pressure. :-)

4. I shall be going to the midnight thingie for Breaking Dawn. I won't be talking to anyone and probably won't answer any phone calls 8-2-08. I'll be in hibernation, reading the book.

I read an article about the author (Stephanie Myers?) a while back and apparently the series is very popular among teenage girls.

I didn't even know they did midnight sales for YA books, I"m surprised that parents will drive their kids down to a store in the middle of the night to have a waiting on line party. I pity those poor clerks having to pull a midnight shift in a store packed with giggling 12-16 year olds.

Awesome!

You make me miss being single sometimes. Of course, I haven't been single since 1993.

You sound really happy! 8)

I agree that it's quite popular among teenage girls and that it is labeled as a YA book. However, the author doesn't like the whole "labeling" books because it seems to restrict people. There are so many adults that love the series and even have their own website/message board. I went to a book signing for her more adult novel The Host. Though the teens out numbered the adults, there were still quite a few of us there.
I say all that to simply say that there will be plenty of adults grabbing their own book at midnight. I know of at least 6 girls in my "circle of friends" that will be there.
And of course I'll be at the midnight showing of Twilight in Dec. Completely excited about it.

I know that some adults like YA books, I first got into ebay years ago to hunt down books I liked when I was younger (although that was more of a nostalgia thing). But I still wouldn't want to contend with that gaggle of teens at midnight. I'd just get it from Amazon. And probably wait for the paperback because I'm cheap, ha!

Also, a thought has occurred me that's sort of related. I wonder if libraries have taken a big hit since it's so easy to buy books online. I haven't been to a library in years, even before the internet (basically since the advent of the discount books concept). I'd only go when I couldn't find something at the book store.

I think most people go to the library for books that they don't want to buy when they're only going to read them once.

How about those of us who want to pick up cute librarians?
