Living under a rock

#1 Post by Sir_Galahad » Wed Jul 23, 2008 2:56 pm

I am watching the local news and they are bringing in a feed from South Padre Island during the storm. A reporter is interviewing one of the local residents who begins her reply to a question with "I had no idea this was coming..." Huh??!!

In this day and age of 24/7 information everywhere you turn how can you not know something like this is coming unless you either a) live under a rock or in a cave or b) are in a coma.

Same way Jay Leno finds people who don't know what the 4th letter of the alphabet is....

Honestly, the little experience I have with South Padre Island, she could've been on magic mushrooms and doing Girls Gone Wild videos for the last 2 weeks. That'd be a bummer, huh?

Hell, last month a couple miles from where I live an arsonist with a Molotov cocktail burned down the historic Governor's Mansion, adjacent to the Capitol building. It was all over the news and in banner headlines in the paper. The city manager didn't hear about it until 36 hours later, when the Mayor asked for an update on the situation. Our city manager said he had out of town guests visiting so he hadn't been keeping up with the news.

Leno found a couple people tonight who didn't know who the POTUS and VEEP are.

Or Nancy Pelosi.

On second thought, maybe you're in Arlington. Did someone dig you up?

Is that what they're calling a spider hole these days.
