...arthritis.
I have been diagnosed with avascular necrosis in my left hip -- aka Bo Jackson disease.
Basically, very little or no blood is flowing to the ball of my left hip and it is degenerating.
The rest of my joints are splendid.
About two months or so ago, I was carrying groceries - a small bag in each hand - and fell face down in the LR. Very Buster Keaton pratfall.
My left thigh ached. I did the ice/heat/elevation/rest thing and felt fine. A couple weeks later, I noticed the leg felt a little weak and I started tripping with my right foot, pulling the muscle again and again.
Three weeks ago, we went to a local orthopedic doctor, who is well recommended. He took X-rays, which showed arthritis in my left hip and we scheduled bone scans and an MRI.
I went to a birthday party (afternoon) and wedding (night) on July 12 and was able to dance a little without pain. But, I could not do the Electric Slide or Wagner Walk.
THAT, my friends, is not good.
I had the bone scans and an MRI. It's not pretty.
I have a cortisone shot next Wednesday and will be doing exercises in the pool at the rec center.
Ironically, Boonie & I were going to sign up at the rec center's gym when he got the OK from the physical therapist.
Anyway, we will monitor and try to manage the pain until the inevitable hip replacement surgery.
Dr. M assures me that I have not danced my final Electric Slide.
