Stop #1 Trivial Pursuit Audition Hollywood, CA.
About 40 people auditioning. Test was a little tougher than I anticipated but there was a little bit of magic in the air...in the categories where I am notoriously weak, they seemed to pick the one or two questions that I would know. Wooo... what are the chances of that happening again?
Same for my friend who thinks she is not great with pop culture, but there were enough MAWG questions to help her pass the exam as well!
Mock game....We actually did are game together, we seemed to play off each other in fact. She got 3 Q's right, and I got the other 3. Too bad they don't have teams in this game! Interview in front of all auditioners and AP we both did very good! In fact the head AP said as her parting shot "I liked your great energy and enthusiam, great job!". Hopefully this will translate into some happy cards or happy phone calls, however they do this.
EA Part II:
Million Dollar Password Audition, N. Hollywood.
Whew fighting 1/2 hour of bumper to bumper traffic up on the Fwy 101 to our next stop. Both of us had lots of adrenaline from the TP audition, wondering if we could turn it up 1 more time. Had literally 10 mins. to eat a bowl of soup in the hotel coffee shop before we went to the conference room where all of the auditioneers were already seated. Although the 6 30 pm festivities didn't get into full swing until around 7 30. They were still
interviewing the 3 30 Pm hopefuls until that time! We played a group mock game until close to 8 PM, not much to worry about here, the head AP wasn't even in the room. Then she returned and we took a test that I would hardly call a test. They weeded out about 20 out of the 60 people with this exercise (hardly efficient) and the rest of us did a 30 second "tell us something about yourself" interview in front of the whole group. Unfortunately for me, I went second. I went with one of my previously successful audition tales (circa WWTBAM audition 2001) and my friend said I gave a flawless and "animated" performance. So I felt pretty good about that. But little did I know that the room was loaded with Superstars! Reality show winners (most shows on cable that I have never heard of!), celebrity interviewers (Gene Simmons story), DJ's, celebrity talk show hosts, a man who came back from Pakistan "in search of Bin Ladin's crew", a law enforceman man showing a bullet hole in his knee and believe or not he "stopped a bullet point blank" headed for his chest with his forearm. (things people will do to get on a game show these days). Lady Doogie Hauser trying to win a Nobel Prize in medicine. It seemed like each person in the group was more fantastic than the previous auditioner. I started feeling benign in my "lame" story.
My friend went for the outrageous comedic approach (probably the only approach at the late stages of the prelim interviews that would have reversed the wannabe's momentum), I stayed focused on the head AP, during her stand up routine, and I could see that they loved it!
Of course, I was let go after round 2 and my friend moved onto the finale. This took another 45 mins., which gave me time to finally eat my dinner 10 PM at this point. My friend said her second 2 person mock game went pretty well, and she was happy with her second face to face interview with the AP's. They asked her as their parting shot if she was available august 2nd - august 4th. She responded "Call me and I will be here". Around 10 45PM we headed back to The OC. Of course 2 lanes were closed on the 5 for construction, got back round midnight! My friend had an early appt. today, so she had another hour drive after all of this!
So bottom line for me 1 win and 1 loss. I feel very good about my chances for being on TP this Season!
