E-mail for WWTBAM

Hello,

Has anybody on the board receive an e-mail from WWTBAM today?

It says I am still in the contestant pool and there is a possibility

I will get the call. It also says, that about the PAF'S that I have to

provide photos for them. When I saw the e-mail, I almost jumped

out of my seat, since this is my first time in the pool.

Any comments or questions, please let me know.

Thanks. :D

Not too many bbs up at this hour. I don't recall getting an email (three years ago) just the phone call. But things may have changed since then. It's a good sign. But then maybe they're just testing your email addy in they call and can't get ahold of you. Good luck!

Are they telling you to submit PAF photos now, or just that if they call you, you will need to submit PAF photos at that time? I wonder if they send that e-mail to everyone who is still in last year's pool, or just to you because you called them recently.

I suspect they are doing it to notify you of a change in the rules since you made it into the pool.

Good luck! Hope you get the call soon.

Never having gotten that happy card, I can't give you any help. Just wanted to post good thoughts and hopes you'll get that call very soon.

Mrkelly, how could you not have gotten a card? You seem to have a cat herder in the family.

Yes, I got it, it came into my mailbox last night around 8 pm. It goes as follows (note the portion in bold is in bold in the email - the only change I made was to remove the phone number):
Dear Contestant Pool Member,

If you are in receipt of this email that means you are a member of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Contestant Pool ("Pool"). Please be advised that there have been a few changes to the show. One change requires that our Contestants provide photographs of their Phone-A-Friends! You should begin to prepare yourself for the possibility of being a Contestant by gathering photos either electronically or physically of the people you would like to serve as your Phone-A-Friend.

Note: This is not a guarantee to be on the show. This email serves to make you (the Pool) aware that there is a possibility that you may become a Contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and that you should prepare now in the event you receive a last minute phone call to appear on the show.

If you have already been a contestant on the show, you have received this message in error and we hope all is well!!
Please do not reply to this email. Any questions should be directed to our hotline number at
-I removed the phone number-
Clearly it seems to have gone out to everyone in the pool regardless of where they are in the process (pre and post call to appear). It would be interesting if anyone who was in either last year's or any previous year's pools also recieved the email - as well if anyone who is currently waiting for the happy card.

As they say in the email, I think the point might be if they can get conteestents to do the time consuming portion of getting a PAF done in advance, then they might be able to continue with some last minute WE pool members with very little notice to fill schedule holes - so they may call you and ask if you already have your PAF photos in place and if your PAFs can fax a release form. It is interesting that they didn't bother to give the details of what makes a good or unacceptable PAF such as making sure that if there are others in the photo, then can be easily cropped out, no logos either on the persons clothes or visible in the background. One thing happend to one of my friends - they provide in essence a head shot - and about 5 days after I submitted my photo, they called me to say that it was too close and parts of his head were being cut off in their system and asked for something not so close (more like a waist to head shot) - I wonder, especially for WE's who have WE as PAFs that may use their professional head shots will fair in the process - or if, in general they still need to rush around for photo's because they don't know that the photos that they have already are not acceptable.

One last thing (on a related note) I got an email from my handler yesterday afternoon asking me to get the 'job titles' of all my PAFs (and the request for a new photo of my PAF came just this past Monday afternoon) - this coupled with the fact that I HAVEN"T SEEN THE NEW OFFICIAL RULES YET (do I sound stressed about it?) AND HAVE NO IDEA OF ALL THE CHANGES AND I LEAVE AUSTIN IN FOUR DAYS AND THERE IS ONLY 3 MORE MAIL DELIVERY DAYS LEFT (really I'm not that stressed about it, but I really, really would like to know how the game has changed) means that they are trying to get all the changes in place and working, approved, bugs ironed out, etc. prior to the start of the new taping season - and that they are not quite there yet.

I agree that it's a heads up for any potential contestant about the PAF photos. A lot of people don't have a nice photo especially with the potential of said photo being shown on television!

I'm also thinking Frogman's taping may be longer than normal while they iron out all the kinks of the new "system". I hope I'm wrong, but I know their past taping history could mean a long tape day.

(Snort) Just don't let him hear you say it -- he's got a pretty overinflated sense of self-importance already. Don't know where he gets that....

And as far as legal goes, well, he is if you travel to Indiana, I guess. He'll be 17 next month....

1 down - 5 to go:

Here are some hints (that I think are pretty tough):

How could this hero be a heavy?
Hello, Dali!
Is that a finch in the courtroom?
At your service, would you like a double?
Also the first two on the this list has the same person in a major role, likewise for films 3 and 4, also features the same person in both films, but not the same as in 1 and 2.

Thanks for everyone for replying.

I'm wondering if anyone received the the email that auditioned

last year or the previous year, and are still in the pool?

Hopefully it a good sign.

Past seasons have often gotten very backed up during the first few days of taping, so much so that some local contestants have been called to have their taping date pushed back. They shouldn't be doing this to frogman, since he's flying in, but there's a good chance that he might have to wait from Friday to Monday for his turn.

I know someone who is a leftover from last year's pool. (S)he got the same e-mail. I guess that's slightly reassuring that a call might still be possible, but I don't feel real confident about the odds.

I haven't gotten a card one way or the other yet (wasn't really expecting one until next week, anyway). But I didn't get an email, so it sounds like the POD for me. :(

I guess.

Only other possibility is that they hadn't made a decision on me yet.

*sigh*

Oh, wait... Okay, Cheetah, it looks like you had gotten the card (a while ago, even), just not the call. I read it like you had just taken the test and before even getting a card, you got this email. Which made me a little pessimistic about myself. Dang, am I paranoid.

I agree that you can't base not getting the email to not getting the happy card. I suspect that they will have either updated the card to let you know to start getting PAF photo's or else they would have to periodically resend the emails.

Good luck!
