...when we got our first VCR and it seemed so complicated!
I am continuing my 2+ month quest to get my episode onto a DVD!
Having admitted defeat to copying it directly from the Comcast DVR to the DVD-R (that I purchased for this specific purpose, mind you), I am trying new things.
Tonight I decided I would tape the episode onto a video tape, then try to copy the video tape to the DVD-R. I even set it all up in the other room to get away from having the cable box in the equation. I thought it all worked, finalized the DVD and...nothing...just darkness.
So now I am back in the living room, totally flabbergasted. I am trying again, and getting quite sick of seeing myself laugh at my own dumb jokes.
I think maybe part of the problem is that I can't get the DVD menu on the same screen as what is playing on the vcr. Maybe the inputs/outputs are wrong but I've tried them every possible way.
Maybe I should bring a 10 year old over to do it, they probably get it better than I do!!!

I have successfully made 2 audio only dvds.
Even though the video cables are plugged in right next to (above) the audio cables.
Ugh.

Are you sure we're not related?
A 10 yr old or a teenager can probably do this in about 5 minutes.
I know your frustration and wish you luck. Can't you pay someone to do it for you? I needed a slide show burned to a DVD and my laptop wouldn't do it (OK, maybe it was operator error...but anyway..)
I put the photos on a jump drive, took it to Office Depot and they did it for me. Maybe something like that would work for your video.

As we speak, I am in the process of trying to find somewhere that can do that for me!!
Unfortunately it's not as easily searchable as I'd like. Typing "video to dvd" and "hartford, ct" has yielded several wedding videographers and one adult film site. And one company, which I filled out a request form for, that basically looks like their doing business from their basement...which hopefully means it will be cheap!!!!
I wish I could get it on a flash drive or anything other than a video tape...I could work with it then, but this is ridiculous!

I am sure I could get to NJ in less time than it will take to figure this out on my own! Especially at this time of night, no traffic!

Look for a copy service that caters to lawyers, this is the kinda of stuff they are asked to do all the time. Check with Kinko's

Your DVR may vary, but mine has two sets of A/V inputs, one in back and one in front under a small door. The one in the back is "Line 1" and the one in front is "Line 2". To select these on the DVR I press "001" or "002" in place of the normal tv channel (L1 or L2 will display). I have A/V cables (the white and yellow ones) that connect the VCR outputs to the inputs in front of the DVR. The DVR outputs are connected to my TV. Thus when I select Line 2, I can watch a VCR tape through the DVR. To record from tape to DVD, I either press the record button and hang around, or set the timer for a fixed interval and walk away.

edit - I don't have a Comcast DVR, but if it has A/V outputs, one would think you could connect these to Line 2 and bypass the videotape.
