Yay, SC.

Quality time with loved ones is called for, indubitably.

And dancing.

BTW, I don't know if you watch "So You Think You Can Dance," but I'm getting a big kick out of this season. Dancers are generally less Prima-Donna-ish than singers, anyway, but if the AI kids had as much personality and talent as this season's dancers, I would like it a lot better.

The choreographers have mostly done a great job of making the dancing accessible to goons like me, as well.

And last night they had a couple dancing a country two-step! We laughed heartily.

elwing and I are big fans of SYTYCD, but to be honest we don't know enough about dancing to know what's good or not, but we know what we like. The caliber of the competition does seem higher this year (and it's a shame about the girl who broke her ribs and had to withdraw from the competition). The one thing I did notice was a flub during the last couple's pas de deux and was wondering if any of the judges would comment on it. When Lil C and Mary said how much they loved the routine I thought maybe I was mistaken, but then Nigel noted that they had done one wrong thing that they would remember.

Happy Birthday, Shiny!!

I went to try to google a silvercamaro birthday cake. I couldn't find one, but somehow (and I truly have no idea how) I managed to end up with a new silver camaro as my wallpaper on my computer. How the heck I did it, I have absolutely no idea. But it's all for you, sister!

Happy Birthday SC!

I hope it is filled with joy and shared with friends.

I am not your mater, you squirrel. I'm not old enough to be your mother, even counting this birthday.

:P

I don't think I've seen that photo before, although I think it must have been taken in NYC a few years back-- but my first thought was, "Where did I put that coat?"

:)

Thanks to everybody for your wonderful birthday wishes. I'm going to dinner tonight with some long-time friends from college. Let that be a warning to all of you. When I find good friends, I keep 'em. That means I'll still be pestering all of you for decades into the future.

Allow me to add my wishes for a Happy Birthday, SC.

A couple of famous nonagenarians are also having birthdays today. Art Linkletter is 96, and Phyllis Diller is 91. (Yes, they are still alive.)

Have a great day -- and a wonderful year to follow!

I love the dinner with "long-time friends from college", and hope to be pestered for MANY years to come.

A little anecdote I've been looking for a place to post:

Last Saturday, I went to the First Annual Ithaca Scottish Games. One of the events on the program was a sheepherding demonstration by a woman with some border collies who'll be going to the UK in a few weeks for the world championship.

They were bringing out the sheep when there was sudden disruption to the program--the sheep found a sagging portion of the orange plastic fencing and jumped over it, out amongst the crowd! The humans there were completely ineffectual at turning the sheep around. :P

Well, the border collie ran after them to bring them back--no problem for him--when he was intercepted by a little white dog who looked very much like herjosie!

Obviously, the little dog decided that this situation called for an emergency consultation. :)
