I Can't Escape The Bored At Work...

There are already enough things at work that remind me of the Bored. Just about everything in my cleaning department reminds me of mini and fanny, the Snuggle makes me think of christie, there's the 5019 Purex Lavender for Uly, Suavitel and Fabuloso are courtesy of rob wilson' old company, and even my Lawn & Garden oasis has sunflower seed and of course that evil squirrel food....

So what new item do I find hanging up on a sidekick in my mop aisle when I came in last night........

It's been a while since I saw a Nelly CD on the front display rack in Electronics, but back when my department used to be right behind Electronics, and they'd put all their features over there by us in our way including the new releases, that was when Nelly's Sweat/Suit CD was came out, so I saw that cover, (or was it covers) all the time.... though that was a bit before you joined the Bored, so I wasn't thinking of you.....

We do have lunatics working for us, though.....

Btw, that looks like a pretty groovy item. I am all about the microfiber and I was just looking at some dust yesterday that was hard to get to and looked to be too much for the feather duster to handle.

I was even in your aisle on Monday, but didn't notice this item (sidekicks are the hanging thingies on the side of the shelves, right?). I'll have to make an actual effort to look when I go back next week for my wide rules.

Oh, and whenever something in the cleaning area is on my list, I always look at it and think 'okay, I need to go hit the lb aisle'. When I'm feeling festive, it's 'littlebeast land'.

You're either right or you're thinking of clip strips. I can't tell, but sidekicks are the little metal cage-like fixtures that hang off of the side (ALWAYS the rigth side if the store's doing it according to policy!) of an endcap, which is of course, those lovely fetaures at the end of an aisle that face the main aisle.....

Sidekicks are a huge pain in the butt, and I think exist only to provide something for shopping carts/rocket carts/pallets, etc. to bump into so that you can spend half an hour picking up all the merchandise that fell off of them.....

I think it's interesting what some handles are suppose to mean v. what they really are and how they are pronounced.

I was surprised when it turned out that geoffil was a lady, because I always figured it was somebody named Geoffrey that lived in Illinois and I pronounce it Jeff-Ill.

Maybe you should talk with the store manager to see if he can order the appropriate signing to reflect that! Of course, then I'd have to inspect the department myself to make sure it's up to my level of excellence.....

True story. I went with my parents down to Kentucky Lake when I was on vacation last January, and me and my Mom went in the Paducah Stupidcenter and walked through the chemical department. I was immediately horrified at the shape it was in, and started pointing to stuff that was wrong and explaining to my Mom what was messed up and why I didn't tolerate it back home. By the time I reached the detergent aisle, I was just constantly pointing and grumbling about their shoddy stocking.

When we were walking back up towards the front, my Mom asked me if I saw the looks on the employees faces when I was going off on my rant about their aisle. I didn't, but I bet it would've been priceless to see it. They probably thought I was some corporate big shot or something......

I was thinking of the right stuff (OH-oh-oh-OH-oh-oh), I always call the plastic strips with the clips "plastic strips with clips". You just KNOW that now I'm going to always check the end caps (never shop the endcaps!) to see on which side the hanging thingies are placed. I may have to report to management if I see one that's dressed left.

I still pronounce HF_Jai like the Jai in jai alai, even though she corrected me a long time ago.

I pronounce Juch just like it looks with a hard J because after all these years, I still don't know how it's really said (And if I did, I'd probably still pronounce it my way out of habit)

I'm sure there's a few others I pronounce weirdly that I can't think of, but I think the only BB who's name I originally said wrong that I eventually did learn to correct in my head is tubadave. Until he started asking all those tuba questions in his QoD, I was in the Pea camp of calling him tub-a-dave.....

Other ones I could never change were ging with a hard G, and the rocky road person. And Holt Dad will always be Holt Dad, no matter what he calls himself (although I think I have a lot of company there).

The one that still confounds me is kayrharris. Can't figure out how to pronounce it or where she came up with that one.

Ging! That's the one I was forgetting that had a real pronunciation I wasn't using! Double hard G for me as well....

There were some real dandies back in the days of the Go Bored. I miss the alphabet soup Bored handles a large registration database created....

The people with the last name Juch in the St. Louis area prnounce it like that but my family pronounces it close to the original German: "Yuke".
