The week of July 28th I'll be in St. Louis for the annual DoD computer conference. That is assuming I can make my reservations for an flight there. We are required to call a specific travel agency (Carlson-Wagonlit) to make our flight reservations and I've been trying for two days to get in touch with them without result. The telephone rings but no one answers and there's no voice mail.

As for the weather in the Ohio Valley, it's par for the course - hazy, hot and humid.

We use them, but we are instructed to try and make the reservations through a website first. If we talk to a person, we have to pay something more.

How does a business operate today without at least an answering machine? Even the guy who fixed my front steps had a service to pick up calls, and he's a one-man operation!

I haven't been to St. Louis in 5 years. I would really like to go back.

Carlson-Wagonlit is the government contractor. So it is not like they have to actually function as a real business. As a member of the "Guvmint" I can attest to that!

After all, how else could I spend so much time here...
