Beloved Son and I will be at the Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium this evening.

In the bleachers.

I'll be wearing a green Yankees cap; Beloved Son will be the tall, skinny kid with the Cubs cap.

A Cubs cap?

Where'd your parenting go wrong, nitrah? :P

Looks like we will have to substitute our last visist to Shea with a last visit to Yankee Stadium due to a scheduling conflict, so I may or may not be there this weekend, depending on the ticket situation. Most likely not, since a bunch of folks are sticking around after the All-Star game, but Mini-me is a definite, and probably his twin cousin.

My late f-i-l was an NYC crane operator and he worked on the renovation back in the 70's(?), so we have a bleacher bench and a clock that came from the old stadium in our garage.

He's devoted to the Yankees. The Cubs are his NL team.

Several years ago, we took a trip to Chicago. Day One: Reds v. Cubs. Cubs blew an 8-run lead to lose. Day Two: Cubs v. White Sox at Comiskey. Cubs score 8 runs in top of 4th inning; White Sox score 8 runs in bottom of 4th inning.

Ever since then, Beloved Son has loved the Cubs. They are about my most favorite NL team behind the Dodgers.

If the Yankees can't win the Series this year, it had better be the Cubs.

I will be at the Yankee game this Saturday. Let me know if you think you will be there.

True, but it is looking doubtful anyway due to the problem of even finding four seats together. We've got a crew of 10 at this point, and I think Erin would be beyond disinterested in anything but the concession stands, like at the Triple A games....

These games don't exactly match up, but they have to be the two you saw, as 2002 was the only year the Cubs played the Reds at Wrigley, then the White Sox in Comiskey the next day.....

I think you're right about the games. Impressive how poor my memory is. The Cubs blew the lead against the Reds in the 10th inning, but it was only a 5-4 game. In the second game, the Cubs had an 8 run lead in the third, and lost 13-9. They scored 6 in the top of the 2nd, and gave up 6 in the bottom of the 6th.

I got it at a spring training game. Apparently the Yankees sell a few of them (with a shamrock on the bill) around St. Patrick's Day.

Have fun. The best I can do is that I'm going to the double A Southern League all star game tonight.

My rooting interests match exactly. My heart will always be in pinstripes, but I wear my Cubs cap frequently, too.
