Five Cent Notebooks

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Sun Jul 13, 2008 6:40 am

We got a whole pallet of them in last night..... but they were all Wide Ruled! Grrrrrrr....... I want my 33 lines per page!!!!

I asked one of the people who work over there, and they said we had already gotten one pallet in last week. I musta blinked and it was gone.....

I'll bet most of that pallet's gone by the time I come in tonight.....

Our local Target was already starting to put their patio furniture on clearance, so I know that the notebook paper would be coming in soon.

I, like you, hate Wide Ruled paper, so I feel your pain.

My WalMart is advertising 40-cent notebooks. I would have thought that was a good deal if I hadn't heard of the 5-cent ones.

Annie wants me to go buy her a $19 laptop podium in a pretty color. Are those $2 in the rest of the country?

The advertising circular says "70-Sheet Spiral Notebook. Assorted colors." Should I start a riot?

I would!

Either there aren't any kids in your area, or that Wal~Mart's slacking on their comping!

40 cents for 70 sheets notebooks is a huge ripoff in July and August.....

It looks like those wild and crazy moms are talking about this stuff over on indymoms.com . Rest easy, your $19 laptop podium is $19 there as well.

Ahah! We're getting overcharged for other stuff, as well:

70 sheet spiral notebook…5 cents -- 40 cents here

Crayola 24 pack crayons…22 cents -- $1.08 here

Elmers 4 oz. glue or 2 pack glue stick …22 cents -- 50 cents here

Twin Pocket Porfolio w/prongs…15 cents -- At last, only 15 cents here, too.

I realize that the individual store managers probably have some flexibility on pricing, but I may look for a chance to point out to the local guys that, with the internet, customers know what other people are being charged for the same products.

And in the very town where Helen Walton went to college. Harrumph.

But what about the pencils?

We get overcharged as well. Our notebooks are usually 6 cents. I got my quote of portfolios last week at Staples for 1 cent each.

Wide rule???? I always get a couple because there are a few things I do that require wide rule. But if they're bogarting the college rules when I hit Mecca on Monday, there will be blood in the biscuits!
Spoiler
I'm darned good and ready.

Our Walmart (Gimme a splat!) is advertising the 5 cent notebooks.

I don't often use pencils, so my WWTBAM auditions keep me well-enough supplied with those. 8)

And just one WWTBAM Meredith Vieira coin, minted in 2002. I used to have two, but I lost one. :(

I'm back from WalMart, with my memory refreshed about why I never go there on Sundays. Because the local store is reconfiguring their layout and rearranging all the stock, nobody knows where anything is. Thus, I wandered aimlessly to find things, along with what seemed like several thousand other people.

I bought no notebooks, no pencils, and no crayons, and my bottle of Elmer's All-Purpose Glue was 72 cents, instead of the 50 cents for School Glue. I bought other stuff, and the dogs are happy. I came home with the laptop podium for Annie, so she can lay on the couch and use her computer without it taking up one end of the comfy place. Now she's complaining because I haven't put it all together yet. (According to the instructions, it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes, but I used up that much time trying to get the parts out of the box.) After a long search for the pet section, I bought Lizbit a stuffed duck with a non-operational squeaker. I will give it to her after this evening's dog school. Whether I call it a graduation present depends on her.

I had intended to buy one of the advertised $19 comforters, but they felt cheesy, and the store had sold almost everything except the remaining colors of purple and puke. While searching for the relocated dog department, I found a much nicer comforter in better colors and higher quality fabric for $18.

Everything works out at WalMart, although that cannot be said for most of the customers.

Our notebooks are advertised as 40 cents. I was prepared to stock up for my kids, but . . .

Why the discrepancy??

I refuse to go to Wal Mart.

I swear I get better deals at CVS with no crowds and I get a $10.00 - 12.00
bonus check to spend there once a quarter.

That's really odd that there's that big of a difference in your BTS pricing..... :?

I like reading the Walgreens and CVS ads every week. They crack me up....

I will agree you get better deals there, but don't ever buy anything for "regular price" at one of those places. There's a reason they can offer those 2 for 1 deals. $4.99 a bottle for 100 0z. Arm & Hammer or Purex is most certainly not a bargain.....

Who knew there were 5 cent notebooks?

Who knew that I needed to note wide rule or not?

I get smarter by being here.
