Happy Birthday, Eduardo! Please resist the wiles of Kiki and have a Slurpee on me!

If you have a Facebook account you can give one Slurpee as a free gift.

Wow, I guess it's been a long time since I've been in a 7-11. I didn't even recognize the cup. When did they get rid of the red and blue stripes?

Yeah, probably about the same time they got rid of the name Icee. Ha!

I usually map out 7-11's in the area and take the girls and their friends on a Grand Slurpee Tour.

Maddie has to go to work today. As part of her "Careers" summer school class, she has to shadow somebody in one of the careers that potentially could fit with her skills.

Based on her test results she was told that she could pretty much do anything, but being a Lawyer, Accountant, or Actuary would be the best three potential jobs for her.

Children are BORN lawyers. Ever try to argue with a four-year-old?

We have VERY few 7-11s in the area.

Wawa is the local convenience store of choice. Or the Sunoco Mini-Mart.

So why is she going to shadow 7-11 clerks? :P

Given the cost of gas, those could be some very expensive free Slurpees.

I went out of my way to find WaWa's around here until a couple months ago when the stopped selling decaf hazelnut coffee. It's hard to find anywhere with flavored decaf, Wawa's was very good. I was quite disappointed when I went in to get a cup and was told I couldn't get it any more.

An Icee is a completely different creation than a Slurpee. 7-11 has always had Slurpees.

I remember taking a test like that when I was a sophomore. My results said that I had an almost perfect match to "male lab technician." Since I couldn't meet the first part of the job description, I passed on the last part as well. Besides, I already knew that I didn't want to be anybody's technician, although I was willing to be the indispensable reason for the whole damn lab.

Just finished my first one at the store around the corner from work. I'll have to go to their website and find more locations on my route home. I know for sure there is 1 more, but I need to see if I can find any more.

They make a Monster Slurpee now. Just what a hyperactive child needs. Yuck.

Cal, I had to look this up because I was sure I remembered 7-11 selling Icees before there were Slurpees. From Wikipedia, with the usual caveats:

A Slurpee is a frozen carbonated beverage sold by 7-Eleven. In 1967[1], 7-Eleven licensed the product from the ICEE Company, and began selling it as the Slurpee.

I'm pretty sure all this happened before your time.

There's a neat quiz (or was it a Kerblunk?) on Sploofus about Slurpees. Have you seen it?

I have TWO 7-11s within a mile and a half of me (a mile closer than any Wawa). And I was planning on stopping at one of them today anyway to pick up some ice on the way to my Frisbee game this evening. So... woo hooo!

I sit corrected. I've always thought the two products were similar, but different.

From the blurb you posted form WikiPedia, though, it still sounds like the product has always been called a Slurpee at 7-11. If 7-11 sold ICEEs prior to 1967, and only got an agreement to change the name that year, the wiki article is poorly written.

We went to the 2 in our area. One said they only served them between 7-11 am.

The next one was serving. Everyone, and I really think it was close to everyone, from my kids summer camp were there.

I thought I saw the decaf hazelnut recently in Millville, NJ - our pit stop on the way to Wildwood if we use Route 55. Maybe it wasn't the decaf but I would have sworn it was the orange top.

But, I am not a morning person and it was very early.

I didn't quite mean the entire Philadelphia region. I was just referring to my little corners of the world.

Around us and in TLAF's old neighborhood, the Wawas outnumber the 7-11s. Easily. I'd have to go three or four miles to see a 7-11. I can walk to the Wawa.

Near work, which is an older inner suburb, there is a balance of 7-11 & Wawas. Anything built within the last several years has been a Wawa.

Near my friend Lori's house, there are relatively few Wawas. BUT, a little north of her is one of the original Wawa Farms stores.
