The a/c is out at work. The temperature at the reception desk is reading 80 F, and it's a couple of degrees warmer by the time you get to my office. This is not conducive to concentration on any subject for an extended period.

I hope the test area is still under AC. The quality control system will be out of whack otherwise.
We like whack, but not that kind.

The good news is that it's mainly the office area that's affected. The other good news of sorts is that we really don't have QC capabilities. Most test samples gets sent elsewhere. Product and pre-product don't get exposed to ambient temperatures for very long. I do need to go check the room where finished product waits for batch record review to be completed. Thanks for reminding me.
Does it count if I'm out of whack?
No, wait, that's the normal state of affairs.
Never mind.

It was raining lightly when I took the girls to school this morning.
It's because I washed my car yesterday.

Could you drive up to Northern California and wash it again there, please?

My A/C is set to 84° - intentionally.

I do not do well with heat, especially not with high humidity. And since the fans are out, too, there's no circulation whatsoever in my office. Ick.

That happened to us last week. The boss said we could go home if the temp hit 85...as we rounded 83, the AC clicked on!

My office is currently freezing, I'm wearing a sweater and contemplating turning on my heater. There doesn't seem to be a happy medium here.
At home, I turn it off most of the time but work is a different story, you definitely want air circulation (our windows don't open)...plus at home I can wear shorts, but not at work. So I am thankful for AC at work, I just wish it was a little more moderate.

My home AC is "I don't have any". Yes, I could buy a unit, & stay in my 12" square bedroom. A room filled with storage stuff at this point, too. Not a great option. Or I could install it in the livingroom/dining room area, maybe a total area of 32" x 12", with lots of uninsulatable leaks into the the kitchen, hallway, etc; the poor little unit would probably expire. And cost a whole lot on the way.
So I tough it out with fans & lotsa ice cubes in my herb tea.
At work, RichU is paying for the AC. Left to my own devices, I keep it at probably refrigerator temps. Well, 65 degrees, actually. Where I like it. My biggest office-mate war that wasn't done by evil person getting evil-ly personal (& bigoted, & very evil) was based on "some like it hot". I could respect that aspect of even an evil personality, so just gave up & kept fans on me at the office too. Even the "like it hot" person didn't like it to be 90 degrees. My now-retired boss did, but I didn't have to spend too much time in that office. People attending meetings in there came out murmuring about Abu Gharib (maybe they thought it was a bargaining technique?) but now-retired boss was a thin person who claimed they got cold easily & wouldn't budge.
I did turn their heat off in winter when I left at night until they told me to stop it. We compromised on keeping it 72 degrees overnight so they could come in to what to them was too cold but bearable, with their space-heater on that is, until the real heat got it back up around 90.
And yes, I have at times come back here from halfway down the block to make sure the AC is off overnight in the summer. Ecological me.
