For Better or For Worse today (July 8) could not have been more timely or appropriate.

Two more RSVP's yesterday. We knew about both. One got us the last name of a cousin's significant other for the place card. If I had ever heard his last name, I had forgotten it long ago.

Good news: BD got a call yesterday from the pre-school on base about a possible job. She does the full interview thing tonight. She's excited. It may not be full-time (the message and subsequent setup conversation didn't clarify), but just having something in hand will help her state of mind.

Not-so-good news: PODS' "local" storage facility is two hours from the base. I had rejected a competitor because their storage was also far away, though there were other considerations there as well. This will entail more serious planning on what the happy couple will need of BD's stuff (and wedding gifts) prior to final housing determination. They'll have access to the storage container, with 24 hour advance notice to the facility, but four hours of driving time kind of puts a crimp into one's day. Not sure they'll have that sort of time available. FSIL needs to make sure they can bring the thing on base when the time comes. Current levels of security may prevent it.

This is the insurance agent in me talking, but most insurers offer
"wedding gift" policies to cover gifts received when getting married
.
it is designed to provide temporary coverage both before & after the wedding until they have the opportunity to settle down & arrange for permanent coverage.

Here it runs $1.00 per $100 of coverage with a minimum premium of $30.00. Coverage can be kept in force for up to 90 days after the wedding.

If you want breakage coverage, add .50 per hundred. We also limit the maximum coverage amount to $10,000.

It is not designed for furniture and stuff, but wedding gifts themselves can add up!
