Ooh, I like Sarah Palin! In fact, I like her a lot. I don't know why I didn't think of her in that position until you posted it.
Dem: Bill Richardson

Jim Webb announced yesterday that he doesn't want the VP slot, so there went another one of my Top 10 picks.

No one specific yet, but I bet both VP nominees are women.

GOP: Gov. Pawlenty (Minn)
DEM: Gov. Sibelius (Kan.) I wonder if she would pick Finlandia as her theme.

Other people are making back up guesses, so I guess I will, too:
Dem: Bill Richardson (I'd put money on this) or much less likely, Jeanne Sebelius (I like the idea of the VP having the same name as the only great composer to come from Finland)
Rep: This one's harder. The McCain campaign seems to be very cautious, so I would say Mitt Romney. If they get out of their doldrums, Susan Collins.

Not sure about predictions, but two interesting non-candidates:
1. Colin Powell. He'd be ideal for EITHER Obama or McCain, but has disavowed any interest in VP.
2. Jim Webb - until he bowed out yesterday, would've thought he'd have made a great VP Candidate for Obama with his military background and his being from a battleground state (VA).
So, as for predictions?
DEM - Sam Nunn (Obama needs a National Security-strong running mate) or Bill Richardson (foriegn policy experience, endorsement of Obama after he dropped out is a plus for him)
REP - Bobby Jindal (he's young, he's southern, he's "ethnic," and, according to the article in last week's New York Time's Magazine, he's Rush Limbaugh's choice for the future of the Republican Party)

I'm not a very good prognosticator, but I think it's highly unlikely that either candidate will choose another Congressperson as a running mate - too much "Washington insider". They are likely to look at state governors or possibly former legislators.

Bill Richardson
Colin Powell

GOP: Pawlenty or Crist.
DEM: Not a clue, but I'd put money on the Field as opposed to Clinton.
If MCain picks Romney, he will assure his defeat.

Uh-oh! I think I just heard Sarah Palin's name being crossed off the VP list. It appears as though the woman who brought sexy (and non-corruption) back to Alaska got caught in a mini-scandal involving her soon-to-be-ex-brother-in-law:
http://community.adn.com/adn/node/127456
All three of Alaska's 2008 races (House, Senate, and President) are toss-ups, and the last thing Alaska Republicans need is another scandal.

Had to look back to see them. Seems reasonable.
In one of the dumbest comments I've seen, a local paper had pros and cons of various veep candidates. Nunn's con was that he was too old and "might come off like Obama's father". Hello? Dick Cheney and W? Was this a problem in 2000 and 2004?
Better a counseling father than a manipulative conniver. Cheney and Rove crossed that line long ago.

Jindal took himself out of the running.

These won't happen but they would be the biggest stories IMHO....
Colin Powell and Hillary Clinton (or Al Gore).
Governor of Mn. likely for McCain and well known Dem. other than the above for Obama. Probably will be the biggest buildup/let down stories of this election season because everyone is anticipating something phenominal to happen.

In every national election since 1976, the Republican ticket has included someone named George Bush or Bob Dole. They seem to be in a rut, so I predict that the GOP VP candidate will be someone named George Bush or Bob Dole.

You mean McCain is gonna pick Jeb's son George P. Bush?

If P is to serve anywhere, it shouldn't be in Washington but in Iraq or Afghanistan.
