A day early, but for your viewing pleasure

#1 Post by kusch » Mon Jul 07, 2008 3:36 pm

Tomorrow Margaret and I will celebrate our 30th Anniversary.

Congrats to Ear and Mrs Ear also.

I had mentioned my "peach tux" before so I thought I would share. Margaret says it is mauve, whatever.

The tux is not nearly the shade I imagined. Unless the picture faded. ''

Congratulations, Kusch!

Peach??? You call that peach?

Now this is peach!

And crushed velvet peach to boot.

Plus sequins.

Not to mention a ruffled cuff and front.

And a cheesy "Magnum-esque" mustache.

Hey, it was a long time ago.

I still had hair.

And really big glasses.

It is coming!!!!

Hang on, almost there!!!

At long last...

Here it is!

Image

Yes, I agree. It IS funny!

In a sad sort of way...

But at least it matches the room decor!

Don't ask me WHY it matches the room decor...

BTW, I am still the proud owner of the tux.

And it still fits....

I'm thinking Dick Smothers-esque. And the sequined piping isn't overkill at all.

Btw, BAM should have a theme week were you bring an old picture of yourself in the height of fashion (at the time) and promise to wear the same thing on the show (I think Ellen did this with her high school prom dress a few years ago and her date showed up wearing the same (or similar) suit that he had on as well). You'd be a shoo-in! Somebody must make this happen!

Maybe Kazoo will send off a strongly worded email to somebody for you.
Spoiler
I'm darned good and ready.

As it happens I do still use it at Halloween. I call it my "Don Pardo" costume.

I use it as an alternative to my other Halloween costume, better known as "Grim".

Image

As you might imagine this costume is a bit cumbersome to wear and of course to remain in character Grim doesn't typically have a lot to say...

In addition his "accessory" can be a bit problematic indoors in a crowded room as well. A real risk of making a "bloody mess"...

So I tend to alternate between the two!

The really scary part is this isn't the 70's and those aren't 8 tracks.

This is early 90's (maybe '92?) and those are CD's in the black case and a CD player on top of the TV.

Now the room decor may well be 70's. Or 60's. It was a club room in an older apartment complex in San Antonio. The apartment complex was full of senior citizens. And me. Hey, it was cheap AND convenient to work.

And to wear that out in public in the 90's clearly shows my astute fashion sense knows no bounds!

However the outfit itself is indeed from the late 60's or 70's. Anyone care to guess how this lovely ensemble had its humble beginnings???

Think peach...

A Very Happy Anniversary to you both! Did you keep that peach-mauve tux? You could pair the jacket with those golfing jammies for special occasions.
