Timeline

I mentioned this a long time ago, but does anybody remember exactly how this game worked?

I basically only remember that I really enjoyed it.

The Meister listed a bunch of events. The players provided the year of the event, and were awarded points for ringers, leaners, etc....

Wasn't there something more to it than that? Like putting them in order or having something in common or something like that? I'm not very good at specifying exact years, so I can't imagine that I would have enjoyed or played it that much if it was just that, but I remember really looking forward to this game.

Some Meisters added other twists to the game, but that was the basic concept that I believe each run had in common. I never ran Timeline for a full month, but I did Wacky Wednesdays for Vandal one time, and I believe it was just a standard name that year format that time....

I just looked up which year that was (I knew it was November), and it was 2005, and apparently we were doing a community QoD that month also, because I had my Wacky Wednesday QoD games in that same file! Heck, I thought I did my last QoD in August 2004....

I've played versions of TimeLine where all the events happened in the same year, and you had to put them in order; where the century was given and you had to provide years; where no clues were given at all, but you got partial points for being close; and where giving the years got you points, but you could also get points if you got the events in the right order. The only sure thing was that if Vandal was running it, it would be fun to play. I remember thinking to myself that I could never Meister that game the way he did.

I stole..... er, picked up some of my best LS ideas from Vandal, not the least of which was my Wacky Wednesday MM concept. He's truly the ultimate Game Meister.

And one of his better games has an anniversary coming up next week that he reminded me of, the game which I used as the model for Take Me Out To The Ballgame..... Bandstand turns 6 next Tuesday!

I was remembering an order thing and thought there were some other variations (like the same year). I had some ideas that I thought were new, but I weren't sure if I just thought them up myself or not (although there is nothing new under the sun).

I was thinking about trying to put one together, but that's too much pressure.

At least you never stole any of my ideas for LS. Ha!

Bandstand! That was another one that I can't remember specifics, but do remember that I loved playing it.

No pressure Fan. Folks around here love games of any kind and I doubt they would be comparing you to others.

They just want to have fun. Go for it!

You're such an optimist, BoB. One of the many things I love about you.

Not intentionally anyway. My Weird Al game in March '03 had the exact same format, but didn't remember you had already done it....

And I'll be stealing your retro LS idea next year, so you'll be properly flattered....

We WERE tied. Don't you need to go take a nap or something?

No, but I had to go to lunch.

Maybe I'll get a few more in before I do take my nap in a couple hours....
