WOW!

Hi everyone, I have some very surprising news. I am so excited that I don't have the words to describe it. I got a post card from Millionaire saying that I was put into the "Contestant Player Pool". This is a dream come true...almost, lol. :D

I'm also very nervous, I don't know if or when I will get a call, what if I miss it? Am I smart enough to be on the show

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to send a thank you note or something.

Congrats on the happy card.

Don't send a thank you note.

Yeah!!! Congrats!

I don't know when you will get a call. If you miss it (I missed mine), they typically give you that day and the following business day to return the call during business hours. So if you go away, make sure you check your messages at the number you gave, and make sure there is always room on your machine/voice mail.

I had quite a time with mine, they first called on a Friday and I didn't get it in time to call back. Monday I was in VT for work, something I absolutely could not get out of, and there was zero cell phone reception. So there I was on a pay phone in the hotel lobby frantically calling - took 3 tries to get someone live. But it happened. And I hope it happens for you too!! :)

As for whether or not you are smart enough, you were obviously smart enough to pass the test, so don't question that now. There are no more tests, don't psych yourself out, just try to breathe and wait for the call, it's out of your hands now.

And no, I wouldn't send a thank you note. You don't want to be too pushy. That's just my two cents.

That's great Shade!

With the undestanding that this is a self-serving question: were you taped at your audition? (and was it a road audition?).

At any rate, every exciting news!! I hope you get the call!!!

I'd be more than happy to answer any selfish questions :)

No I went to NYC to audition and yes they gave me a taped interview.

By the way, this is a question for anyone who wants to give their opinion. I wanted a former Millionaire contestant to be on my PAF list, I don't really know him and I don't want to bother him (if I can avoid it). Should I wait until (if) I get the phone call from Millionaire before I bother him. The only connection I have to him is that I made him my friend on face book and congratulated him after he won tons of money on Millionaire.

Congrats.

I am going to hazard a guess that the contestant you reached out to was neurotheorist guy whose name I am blocking on who was also on that cable quiz show & who got up to $500,000 on BAM. Uli-whomever. Since he's one of the few since hermillion (who of course won hermillion) who's even gotten close in a long time, & since you refer to your potential hoped-for PAF as a he. I'd recommend contacting all of your choices at least informally beforehand; if the show becomes a reality, you are going to be spending some time trying to quiet down your breathing; you don't want to be making polite 1st-acquaintances with potential PAFs at that time.

True, I'd better try to get in contact with him sooner rather than later, and yes Ogi Ogas is the man I am referring to. I was wondering if anyone could guess it, lol.

WOnderful news, Shade, best of luck. Ogi can't do anything worse than saying no, so you have nothing to lose by asking.

But I'm not on Facebook. Oh, I didn't win tons of money either.

Yeah, I guess I'll message him. The reason I added him to my facebook was because he has kind of become my role model. He is a brilliant Neuro-psychologist and a big time game show winner. I am studying psychology and I am trying to get on Millionaire.

I'm still hoping I might be able to get someone from here to be my PAF, if anyone would be willing.

You'll find plenty who will be winning. It's all about timing though.
One warning......if you've watched the show for any length of time you know that some contestants are literally called the day before. A bb here by the name of moonie had this happen to him. He's from Monroe, NY. And I know it's happened before. Sometimes out of staters just can't make it in time and they need to have another body in the green room. So the sooner you get your PAFs lined up the better. And more than five. I'm sure others here on the bored will have better advice.

It's a good thing I live on Long Island so I can get their quick. Good advice though about getting my PAFs lined up before they call me.

Yayayayay! Congratulations!! I agree that being from Long Island, you stand a good chance of a last minute call. Get those PAF's lined up and on your speed dial! Get a few extras, too. Not everyone will be able to do it on such short notice.

Ogi as a PAF? I don't think we've seen lastminuterequest (Ogi's username on the old Bored) in a while.
It'll be interesting to see if he is willing to be "on the clock" for several hours, given his preference to have his biorhythms peaking when he tries to perform his cognitive tasks.

And congrats on the Happy Card!!

So his biorhythmic "clock" needs to be ticking?

Just make sure your PAFs are Google-adept. In my opinion, that's the key for 80 - 100% of questions. True, some questions do not lend themselves to Googling...but I'd rather take my chance on a world class Googler, than on someone who is an expert in an area but may just say, sorry I don't know that.

I agree. I had good PAFs but I had a designated googler. He did not know the answer but he found my question on Google almost immediately and still had time to go to Dictionary.com to confirm it.

Congrats! Hope to see you on the show! Hope they ease up on the questions at just the right time.

Sometimes you don't get much time from the time they call you to the time you have to go to NYC to tape. I only had 6 days notice the first time, 4 days notice the 2nd. you need to really make a list of what you're good at, and not. Be brutally honest and then see which phone-a-friends can fill in the blanks. This bored is incredibly generous with their time and offerings to be PAFs since it's an all day commitment.

Any questions, you can e-mail me to at yahoo.

Congratulations, Shade, and good luck getting The Call.

If you contact Ogi, mention your Bored connection. I'd think that'd be more significant than the fact that you signed up as a friend on his FaceBook page.

And if he can't commit to PAFing for you, we have a few other big winners from the show here, you know! :)
