Wedding Blog: BD**2 - 40

#1 Post by gsabc » Tue Jul 01, 2008 11:31 am

The plot thickens. FSIL has had to redo his leave papers. I do not understand the process here. Apparently he had all the signatures, had the papers in his room, and there was a water leak somehow which got the papers wet and the ink ran. I had thought they had been submitted once he got all those signatures, but maybe that's not the process and he couldn't physically submit them until now. This shindig is going to have a teleconferencing aspect, I just feel it. :(

FSIL is doing something proactively here. He's sending us all the information we'll need and then some regarding acquiring the marriage license. He requested and got some data on BD's car insurance for eventual transfer out there. And he's apparently currently living with the buddy who has the extra space in his house where he and BD may wait out the housing waiting list. It's coming together. Now if we could just be certain the groom will be allowed to show up ...

BD checked the other day that her resume got out there. It did, and has reportedly been sent to the appropriate people "who will call or not" about the position(s). BD is thinking about calling those appropriate people anyway, just to be sure that she's in the forefront of their minds when it comes to choosing candidates.

I don't know how to say this any easier so I will just say it....

Sounds ridiculous to me. There have been a few hints of trouble about this all along or you wouldn't have kept bringing up your concerns about it.

Alarm bells are going off for me.....

I really hope I am wrong.

I repeat, I am a worrier through heredity. I am expressing thoughts here that I would normally keep to myself. Much of my information is received through at least one layer (BD) and sometimes two (GW from BD). I may be misunderstanding, or the information is not transmitting correctly like in the game of Telephone. If there were serious trouble, BD would at minimum tell GW. For the level of seriousness you're thinking about, I am sure that I would find out in short order.

We are in contact with either FSIL's mother or sister at least weekly at this point, and usually more often. We have gotten no indication from either of them of difficulties on that level of significance. FSIL and BD are talking daily via phone and IM. At BD's present stress level from packing, work and concern over the upcoming life changes, believe me, we would know immediately if something was wrong.

I attribute it more to cluelessness regarding procedures, reluctance to do new things such as submitting forms and making requests from several levels of hierarchy up the ranks, uncertainties about his future and what he wants to be when he grows up (figuratively speaking), the distance currently between the couple, and just plain inexperience and youth. I recall my own level of involvement over my wedding and such, and my own mental state in general at that age. He's better than I was, even as problematic as I've apparently portrayed him.

Good luck! I hope it works out. After all, FSIL could have just kept this tidbit to himself and let BD think things are going smoothly. I have faith, really I do. :)
