I think my new glasses need adjustment. I first read the subject as "Happy Canada Dry" and thought it was a celebration of ginger ale. :)

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Let's play hockey!

I should have said "Let's play soccer".

I most recently heard it sung for the Dynamo-Toronto FC game on June 8. A nice live rendition and most of the Texian Army sang along. We try to sing along with the U.S. anthem but the singers tend to get creative so it is hard to stay with them.

Speaking of which, I was in Denver a couple of weeks ago and caught a Rockies game. The singer of the U.S. anthem that night skipped ahead in the song and then tried to back-track to get the parts she missed. She never hesitated while she sang the lines all out of order but did recover to give a strong finish.

Thanks. Big J is spending it at camp, and I understand that there are many festivities planned at the lake there. He packed his collapsable Canada Flag umbrella hat, to honour the day LOL.

Moi shall head down to the inner harbour later today, and visit the Royal BC Museum and National Geographic IMAX, to watch a couple of show that I have been waiting to see..Dinasaurs, giants of Padagonia, and Secrets of the Mummies. Then I shall head to a lovely marine restaurant, and sit by the water imbibing some beverages.

Later this evening is a wonderful fireworks show, then home to bed, as it is work again tomorrow.

I am doing as little as I can.

The NHL general managers have just spent a few hours making fools of themselves, incidentally. Paying free agent hockey players as if they were barrels of oil.

I hugged a Canadian on Canada Day. A very cute one named Kara, probably in her early to mid 20s. She grew up in Ontario, moved to B.C., then got a job in Austin at the Irish Pub where I play trivia. Now she's working as a nanny for three kids, but she was out on the town when I saw her tonight.

Happy Canada Day! If you have any more fine citizens like Kara, send them down here.

Especially the cute ones. Leave the ugly ones at home.
