New James Bond Trailer

The first trailer for the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, out November 7, is now available:

The trailer gives the appearance that it will continue the excellent work from the last Bond film, Casino Royale. This is the first Bond movie that will be an actual sequel as opposed to a subsequent adventure. Most older Bond films, no matter who the actor playing Bond, were completely interchangeable from a plot/character standpoint. This movie follows Bond as he tries to recover physically and emotionally from the events in Casino Royale and get revenge on those responsible. Plus it appears that the movie will take advantage of Judi Dench's acting talents for something other than stunt casting.

The movie was directed by Marc Forster of Finding Neverland and Monster's Ball. It also features the usual dazzling display of stuntwork which has always marked the Bond series. Over the weekend, I saw Wanted, a typical CGI action extravaganza in which the audience is constantly made aware that the action sequences are staged by actors performing in front of what will become an animated screen. It takes away from the excitement of the film. The stunt work in the Bond films (with the notable exception of the last Brosnan film) is all real and exceedingly skillfully staged.

I'm really looking forward to this one.
