Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band are coming to Kansas City August 24, 2008 at the Sprint Center. Tix go on sale 10:00 cst Saturday, June 28, 2008. OMG!

fwh & I were just talking about Bruce. We have NEVER seen him live in concert!

So, I will be here at my computer terminal early saturday with my coffee and credit card in tow!

Time sure have changed - I remember camping out overnight at the Greensboro (NC) Coliseum in '84 to get tickets for the Born in the USA Tour.

Now its coffee by the computer.

Hope you get the tickets - everyone should see Springsteen at least once.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Police and Elvis Costello in Philly next month. I've never seen either and am just about as excited about EC as I am about the Police.

I can't remember the years cuz I'm an old coot. But one was at the LA Coliseum. He was at one end and I was at the other. Then I saw him in Goteberg Sweden. I was near the front, in the rain and nobody around me spoke English but they all knew and sang the words to "Born in the USA".

That must be the key, English can't be your native language. I have NEVER understood the words to that song from listening to it. I've also never understood the fascination with Springsteen and his sanctification as legend nearly from the start. He's always seemed like just another folk artist turned rock band to me, and worst of all, he mumbles!

Just my opinion on the subject of Springsteen. Don't bother trying to convince me. I'm old and crotchety. I'll save my money and go see someone I prefer, that's all.

Ah, memories. The two best concerts I ever saw were by Springsteen, on the Darkness on the Edge of Town, and Born in the USA tours. Simply amazing performances.

I've seen Springsteen five times and this tour is the best I've seen him. You will enjoy yourself.

Ha! I thought we were going to hear a story about your boss propositioning you or deciding he was a woman in a man's body or something OMG like that.

I really like Springsteen, but I'm not sure I could handle a marathon concert of his (unless he's scaled back in the last few years).

I think the best concert I ever saw was Joan Jett or Cheap Trick. Right up there is also David Bowie and (believe it or not!) Conway Twitty. I saw Alice Cooper twice (Welcome to My Nightmare and Poison tours, I think) but, for some reason, they weren't that memorable.

Oooooooh.....favorite concert.....Joni Mitchell at the Troubador in West Hollywood and Buffalo Springfield's farewell concert in Santa Monica. Canned Heat and Spirit were on the bill too.

There was some erroneous info out about purchasing the Boss tix on Sat, 6/28/08. There was NO Internet presale. Therefore, I went to my local Ticketmaster, and got in line. They drew for position in line, and I got the 6th position. We got tix, not the ones that we wanted...

Seen 'em twice. The man in performance IS rock-n-roll defined.

A good friend of mine hated Springsteen. Couldn't stand him. A few years down the road, he married a Jersey girl. Since he would do anything to keep his sweetie happy, he went to an E-Street Band concert. I talked to him a while later and he said "Thom, NOW I get it".

Bruce may have lost a little off his fastball, but he still smokes the stage. Until you've seen him live, you haven't got all the evidence.

This was an AMEX Gold Card event when they came to Anaheim earlier this year, so if you have a Gold Card, you may wanna check that out.
I didn't go, I opted for Alicia Keys instead, and it turned out to be an awful concert! who ever told her she could dance like Madonna?

Congrats on scoring the Tix! I had to read the rest of the thread before I realized the original post was one week ago.
We got tickets for The Pacific Symphony with guest vocalist Don Mclean of American Pie (the song not the movie!) fame for the fourth of July! Should be a good concert and a great fireworks show!

The good news for me is that Idina Menzel is doing a concert tour. The bad news is that she's not coming to Boston. Nearest venue was in Pittsfield (2.5 hours away) back in April. Nuts.

I'll keep trying to win tickets to Neil Diamond at Fenway. Me and some tens of thousands of others in the area.

I saw that Idina was touring. Pittsfield is NOT that bad a drive gsabc! Hey, try living out here where you have to drive. When we lived in Manhattan, KS it took 2 1/2 hours to get to KCI. Now = 1/2 hour!

I heard about Neil Diamond playing at Fenway. I would love to see him! He is another performer that I never saw live! Best concert that I EVER went to was the Doobie Brothers Minute by Minute tour in 1979 at the Cape Cod auditorium in Falmouth. We drove from Gloucester...well, actually we thumbed from Peabody to Falmouth...now this is another story! I was a wild child once I hit 18!

The good part of the Interview was that she actually read the sheet before she talked to me. Said things like "that's the financial planner part of you" and "I see you have always been a fan of our show". And there was some give and take as well as eye contact. The other side is that I was about the 10th person called up to the front of the room that day, all the previous auditioners were let go without being taped, and unfortunately that was my disposition as well. So I wasn't too happy about that.
I might be in NYC in the fall, I keep getting invites to great seminars held by billionaires there, hard to turn them down, except of course for the finances in a down market year. But if I go, I can try to get into a taping and reaudition and write off the legitimate business expense part of the nyc trip, not a bad incentive.
