Road Trip Audition Questions

#1 Post by chad1m » Sat Jun 21, 2008 3:45 pm

Hi all,

I'm a new member here (obviously), and I wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding my upcoming road trip audition in Detroit, August 13. I was a past Jeopardy! kids week contestant with a scheduled audition [six years ago], so this road audition stuff is pretty new to me. :)

1) Should I bring anything other than my driver's license, for ID purposes or otherwise?
2) What times have the auditions started, and appx. how many people are in line/do they let in?
3) Do we have any sort of hints or ideas as to what the passing score is?
4) After one passes, what happens?

Thanks so much for your help. I've tried searching for some of these answers, but I guess I just don't have the right queries. Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Chad, and best of luck in about 2 months!

1. A driver's license is all you'll need to bring, other than your brain....sometimes we do forget to bring that along.
2. The auditions start whenever the website says they will. The BAM folks are quite prompt. You really should get there early, as there's no way of knowing exactly how many people will show up. It really depends on how well it's advertised, how the weather is, and about 20 other factors. You'll likely get in if you're one of the first 1000 or so. After that, it all depends on how many will take the test at the same time; and that will depend on the size of the room, among other things.
3. There's no telling what the passing grade is. Some postulate that it's a firm number, like 25; others think it's all a question of percentages, and they'll take the top 5% of passers. I personally think it's the former, but unless the person telling you absolutely one way or another works for BAM, they're only guessing.
4. I believe they've changed their way of doing things this year. If I read the website right, if you pass the test, you're given a time to return to the testing area for your interview. You'll be given an application to fill out only if you pass the test, so take the time between the testing and the interview to give yourself a good application and RELAX. The classic advice (given to me by a woman who's been on more gameshows than you can count, including last year's "Grand Slam", where she lost specacularly to Ken Jennings) is "Be Yourself, Only Bigger". You may or may not get a second, videotaped interview with another producer; don't worry about it.

Most importantly, have fun, relax, and good luck!
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.
