There has been some coverage on the NYT web site and on CNN's web site. I would have thought Fox would jump all over it.

Google News shows the newsiverse pouncing one day after an initial story linked at portfolio.com; I dont see before June 12.

NYT 800-1000 words on June 13.

I am bothering to write this because IMHO this is the kind of story which gets OVER coverage from MTM. UK/US/CAN everywhere. Regardless of party. Alleged pecadillo, usually with at least some fire for the smoke. Denials. Calls to investigate. Further denials. Horse race type speculation on effects on future career. More denials. Some sort of action. Twisting in wind. And so on.

Much, much more difficult to make banking and economics understandable to non-adepts like myself. So I can have some idea whether big judgments (like Canadian Supreme Court ruling on comparative rights of shareholders and bondholders, yesterday), make sense or not.

I saw something about this a couple of days ago....CNN or MSNBC, I think.

Where did you get the quote for Dorgan? It is actually Conrad. Conrad will still get close to 70% of the vote in his Senate race.

People don't care about this stuff because all they want to know is what the Federal Government is going to do about high gas prices?

Finding out about the actual root causes (of which the mortgage mess is one) is too time-consuming and too hard.

Usually when there's some impropriety by an elected official, the other party jumps on it, but only after they're fairly sure their own side isn't just as guilty.

The media almost never follow these stories unless one side or the other is prodding them to. Sometimes not even then. Been that way ever since news became just another part of entertainment.
