Oh, please! I can only guess that this was a severe case of hotseatitis. Otherwise, it's a sorry case of not paying attention to any of the news from the Middle East for the last 20 years.

I'm happy she took the shot at $25K, not so happy she guessed wrong. But she should have had a lifeline left at that point.

Yes, the ATA at 300 seems a bit difficult to understand. And potentially costly although I am not sure how much help it would have been at 25K. But if she doesn't waste it there maybe she has one of the others still left at 25K.

But the question is about plate tectonics! She probably knows nothing at all about plate tectonics! So how could she possibly jump to the wild conclusion that the Arabian plate might be located somewhere near...Arabia?

And why are they asking such hard questions for $300?

I knew she was in trouble when she ATAd on the $500 question.

I would have needed to ATA on the Marlon Brando question. I had no idea, but figured that a New York audience would.

I would have used 50/50 on the Germany question. "Democratic Republic" was distracting me. I think that's what East Germany was called.

From somewhere, I have a clear audio memory of DDR (pronounced: DayDayAir) referring to the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (fitting in nicely with my one year of learning German in college). Democratic was often used as a euphemism for Communist during that era. And for you young 'uns out there, DDR did NOT always mean Dance, Dance Revolution.

West Germany was BDR - Bay Day Are - when I was there in the mid 80s.
