Mom is dancing with Dad again

Mom passed yesterday morning. Like Babe Ruth, she called her shot. Sunday she saw quite a bit of him and was talking to him a lot. She was aware of us, too, and responded to us, but she was going back and forth between the two worlds.

Sunday would've been Dad's 77th birthday. My sister asked Mom if she was going to be with Dad on his birthday, and she thought for a minute then said.."No..tomorrow". 7:20 the next morning she was gone. Her passing was pretty peaceful, but the last few years of her life were full of discomfort and struggle. I can only hope that, as I experience the same difficulties she did, that I face them with even half the dignity and courage that she did.

Of course we are going to miss her like crazy, but along with the mourning comes the relief in knowing that she has shed her disfunctional body and is now dancing again.

My cousin wrote a blog entry about Mom and she has captured Mom's essence very very well. Here it is if you are interested in reading it...

The next couple of days will be very busy, obviously, but things have quieted down for tonight, and I wanted to share the news with my friends here. I'll be back in a few days.

I am so sorry. I know you will miss her beyond missing her. Still, I'm very pleased that she could pick her day, her dancing partner, and the music.

Furthermore, I know she lives on in you and your family.

Hugs and love go to all of you.

Thom, I don't know when I've learned so much about a person I've never met in so few beautifully crafted words. What a beautiful and eloquent tribute to Your Mother.

At my Dad's funeral, the soloist sang a song that contained they lyrics of (and I'm kind of paraphrasing) "if you could see the face I'm seeing, if you could see the smile I'm seeing, you would not cry for me." I knew my Dad was seeing my Mother's face and smile as surely as your Mom is seeing your Dad's face and smile.

May love and comfort be with you.

T-man, your mom sounds like a wonderful woman. I think it's obvious that this, like the MD, is genetic as well.

I'm sure that she and your dad are wearing new patterns in the carpets of heaven right now.

You have so much of your mom in you (when I read "determined spirit", I said "She gave that to T-Bone). She will never really be gone. She lives in you.

May you find comfort in knowing that.

It sounds like your mom was truly a wonderful woman. I'm very sorry that you've lost her, but I'm glad that she died in peace and that she is no longer suffering. I hope she gets to cook all her favorite foods in heaven and dance up a storm with your dad.

Mr. Bone-all my heartfelt condolences, but I sense, based on what you have said and what your cousin has said, this is one massive blessing for her (your mom), and you and your family seem so selfless when dealing with your loved ones, that in the end all is good.
Still, hugs, prayers and strength from here.
