Wedding day #263???

Well, the date is sort of set, but we are having trouble choosing a place for the reception. Everyone keeps saying I should have it here at the house.
My friend, the wedding planner, wants to cover the pool with plexiglass and make it a dance floor!! That thought scares the heck out of me (well, I do work for an insurance company! They would probably cancel me on the spot!)
Natalie is worried about rain. That's always a possibility. The wedding planner, heretofore known as Patty, sent me some photos of how nice a tent can be set up. Here's a sample:
There is also is no parking for 150-200 here at my house. Patty says we can get a valet service to park people at the community pool a couple of blocks away and shuttle them here to the house. That scares me too.
She's going to call me with prices tomorrow. I can't wait to hear them.
So, we're not getting too far. I may be in the psych ward soon.

I've done lots of parties which use a shuttle/valet service. There never seems to be a problem. I don't know how big or deep your pool is but I have seen covered pools at parties. Probably cost a pretty penny and the fire marshall and insurance company will have a say in the safety issues.

Hey, where are the pictures?
I wouldn't have it at my house for love nor money, but I'm not hip to your digs, do you have a ballroom?
The plexiglass thing is way cool, especially if they put coloured lights underneath for when it gets dark. I saw a If Walls Could Talk once where the kitchen of the house was built over some lost well that was big in the Revolutionary war and the dude took out the floor and covered it with glass. He said everybody was always afraid to walk over a great big hole in the ground but it could hold several cars.

Sorry, I used a website that only keeps the photos for a limited time.
I think I've fixed it now. Those photos I sent you last week show my back yard and the pool. It's a pretty big pool but I can't give you the dimensions off the top of my head.

Well, Natalie's fiance' is a Lt in the fire department, so maybe we would get a break there. I work for the insurance company, so we'll see about that as well.

How fun!
I love it when the m-o-b gets enrolled in things that make her uncomfortable and she does them because she loves her daughter.
I am not saying you should do all those things and if you don't, you don't love your daughter.
I just love the way you stretch yourself.

Haven't you seen
It's A Wonderful Life? In the middle of the celebration, someone will open the cover and everyone will jump in the water and it will be the highlight of the party!
Make sure you get the plexiglass cover with the key-operated motor!

It looks pretty, but I'm not a big fan of doing stuff like that outdoors, too many variables. But I have no idea of your weather and whatnot. If you have nice nights, I think the reception would be pretty with twinkly lights and stuff, but was your backyard big enough?
By the way, I'm haven't seen all the photos yet, they keep sticking on me. The same thing is happening with another one, so I don't think it's that one specifically.

The tents look beautiful. The plexi idea sounds lovely. If there is parking two blocks away, can't the guests park themselves and walk?

This makes me tired just thinking about it.
But, at the same time, boy, what you can do.
That tent's pretty cool.
