Oh yeah, that improves the level of political discourse in our country.

We should play a game.

How many inaccurate stereotypes, distortions of policy positions, and outright lies can you find in that video?

I honestly don't know who I am voting for in the fall.

I do, and I'm a lot happier about who I'm not voting for but who won anyway the last two times.

I'm far from thrilled about that video. This is the third time I've come across it, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

Somebody did actually count up all the Swiftboat outright lies, and I don't remember Cal objecting to those.

Now, isn't that coinkydink? That's pretty much the way I feel about voting Democratic. I want my taxes raised. I want government intrusion in more facits of my life. I want to pay for my neighbor's health care. I want the richer people to pay more taxes so that us poor folks can relax a bit and to help de-stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit. I think we should impose more taxes on the oil companies but let the drug companies slide by. I could go on but I'm getting depressed just thinking about the possibility of an Obama presidency.

I have a feeling that the "outright lies" attributed to the SBVFT would be a matter of interpretation.

In the video, I can't specifically recall anything I would call a lie. The misrepresentations and distortions are pervasive, though.

Unlike the Juchman, I didn't think it was worthy of forwarding to anyone, but I think whoever made it was trying to be funny, so I'll cut them some slack. For the most part, I don't think they succeeded. But then, most SNL skits fall flat too, so this wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen. I wouldn't mind seeing an answer video about why I'm voting Democratic. It probably wouldn't be very funny either.

I would be funnier to Republicans, I am sure.

This type of stuff is not gonna get us where any of us want to go.

If you make more than $200,000 every year, you're damn right your taxes are gonna go up.

But if you make under $65,000 every year, then I hate to break your heart, but you'll be getting a tax cut.

So, tell me, Nelly. If I am making more than $200K per year why should I have to pay more taxes? What is gonna make me want to continue to bust my ass to make more money only so that the government can take more of it away? Please explain that to me.

How about a sense of knowing that your efforts are helping others? Or the satisfaction of the job?

I didn't make it past the Wal-Mart crack. I actually kinda like Wal-Mart. More importantly, I like living in a world where self-important people can't tell me where to shop.

Sorry, but I ain't working to support somebody else's family. I pay enough taxes and give plenty to charity during the year. And my job satisfaction goes spiraling downward when I see all my hard work go out the windows in added taxes. If someone is unhappy with their position, they need to improve it and not depend on me to improve it. Sorry, but that's the way I look at it.

If you gross $200K, and have an opportunity to add $50K to your income, would you turn it down if your net would only go up by $25K?

So, by that logic, if you're making $10 an hour and your boss offer to give you a $3.00 raise but tells you that you'll only really get a $1.50 raise will you feel as good as if you were getting the full $3.00 raise? It's all relative.

So, in your case you would not do the extra task for the extra $1.50 - you would feel better not making the extra $1.50?

Of course you make a choice if the extra work is worth the extra incentive - and you base it on that.

Look at it this way - in the current state of things you make 200K - you can do something else and earn an extra 100K - of that new 100K currently you would pay 33% or roughly 33K in taxes - under say Obama it goes back to 39% and you pay 39K a difference of 6K - so if Obama is elected, you wont take that oppertunity to earn 100K because you would get 6K less return then if McCain wins? Therefore the economy will tank? Is that what you are saying?

But of course the situation is even more complex - compare the economic growth in the 90's vs this decade - even though the tax rate was higher the growth was significantly better - therefore you make even more money after taxes, even though you get taxed at a higer rate.

It comes down to which society is stronger - one with a slightly higher tax rate that can investite to make society more secure through better services, infrastructure, etc. or one where the taxes are lower but the disparity between rich and poor is great and there is negligable middle class.

running budget deficits is a de facto tax increase on your future earnings.
Each of us are still paying $1000 a year for the massive borrowing done by the noted fiscal conservative Ronald Reagan.

Bush's deficits are being funded by the Chinese. They expect us to pay them back.

The top 2% have been excused from kicking in their share under the 2001-2006 GOP mismanagement.

Maybe if we keep things as they are, the debt will go away.

I think a tax on people who voted for Bush is in order. For those who voted for him in 2004, a beating is in order as well.
