Jeff went to work for the first time in a week and a half.

Maddie went to summer school.

Emma is practicing her guitar skills on Rock Band.

My mother just left for the airport.

After I do "mom stuff" like laundry, dishes and bill paying, I have several projects that I will start working on.

Jeff's uncle gave me all of the old photos of Jeff's great-grandfather's
family. I am scanning the fronts and the back and putting them all on CD. Then there is a complicated genealogy written down on paper and I am going to put it into my genealogy software program and make copies for his uncle.

I am also scrapbooking. In previous years, I have scrapbooked the girls' awards, pictures, projects and report cards throughout the year, but I haven't had time this year. So, I have a pile from each girl to put in their school album. Apparently Maddie needs a portforlio of her awards and recognition for college, so I need to make color copies of her awards and newspaper clippings as I go.

That's right, I just left for the airport, with my laundry still damp (they wouldn't hang a clothesline for me!) and having to pay for my own taxi to the airport. That's OK, there's nothing I wouldn't do to inflict guilt on those I love.

Damp clothes? Airport??

I figured you'd just hook a line to the back of your broomstick and dry everything on the way home.

Thanks for reminding me, I'll have the cab take me back to your house, and I'll quietly slip in the car and drive. I guess I won't have to be too quiet, those unruly kids of yours will probably be tearing each other limb from limb. And I so appreciate being able to spend half of my income this month on the rental car. I wouldn't dream of inconveniencing you in any way, although you could offer to drive me, or I could drive myself in your fancy-shmancy foreign auto. I know you wouldn't want me to crash it or anything, since I would have the leftovers from my meager meals at your house in a brown bag in the back seat so I might have some money this month for utilities and bingo.

I had a great visit, I'll try to come by next month, OK, sweetie?

But Mom, you were bragging this morning about how your rental was only $13 a day. Don't think that I didn't catch the subtle dig about how clean the car was compared to the exterior of my Tahoe.

We took pictures of her with Emma at Emma's promotion, so they will be included in Emma's scrapbook.

Make sure to backup your photos and genealogy to the Web! I hear about someone who lost everything at least once a week. :(

Perhaps it's too quiet.
